
Men's Tennis Earns NEC Road Victory At Bryant, 5-2

Senior John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.), sophomore Garrett Lane
(Reading, Mass.) and freshman Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.)
earned double wins as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team
won its second Northeast Conference match in as many days with a
5-2 victory over Bryant, Sunday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis
Complex. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 6-1 (2-0 NEC), while
the Bulldogs fall to 6-8 (0-2 NEC).
Hughes paired with Weeden to defeat Kevin Gardiner and Tom Nowak, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles, before outlasting Juan Paredes, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. Weeden also scored a 6-2, 6-2, victory over Gardiner at No. 3 singles.
Lane paired with Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) on an 8-6 victory over Paredes and Nicholai Hill at No. 1 doubles, before making quick work of Hill at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) also picked up a singles win, defeating Andres Orobitg, 6-3, 3-6, 11-9, at No. 6.
The Bobcats return to NEC action Wednesday when they travel to Teaneck, N.J., to face Fairleigh Dickinson. Matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
