The Quinnipiac University baseball team will head to Storrs, Conn.
to take on the University of Connecticut in a non-conference game
at J.O. Chrisitian Field. Quinnipiac is 10-23 overall with losses
in their last three games to Central Connecticut State University
on Saturday and Sunday. UConn enters Monday's game at 21-16 overall
with wins in eight of its last 10 games. The in-state foes will hit
the field at 2 p.m.
Strike It (Ull)rich
Quinnipiac junior Ryan Ullrich (Orange, Conn.) had a solid
day in the Bobcats' doubleheader against CCSU on Saturday. Ullrich
was 4-for-6 in the twinbill, including his first career homerun and
an RBI double in the second game.
Doyle Rules
Bryn Doyle (Manchester, N.H.) currently leads Quinnipiac in
hits (34) and is second in runs scored (16), while also chipping in
with two homeruns and 12 RBI. Doyle has reached base safely in 19
consecutive games and also in 31 of 32 games played this season.
Mr. Clutch
Doyle,
a senior, has led by example, as he's hit at a .370 clip (10-27)
with runners in scoring position. Doyle is also 3-for-6 with
runners on third with less than two outs.
Lucky Number Seven
#7 Mike Marmo (Brookville, N.Y.) is tied with teammate Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) for the team lead in runs scored (19), while also contributing with two homeruns, six doubles and 16 RBI. Marmo also has a team-high 16 walks. Marmo also has a team-high nine multiple-hit games.
Taking The Pole
Sophomore Joe Poletsky (Greenwich, Conn.) currently leads the team with 17 RBI. Poletsky is second on the team with six multiple-RBI games and eight two-out RBI. Last week, Poletsky batted .412 (7-17) with a pair of doubles, three RBI and three runs scored.
Hey Mickey
Last week, Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) drove in a five runs while also clubbing a team-best two homeruns. For the year, Amanti is batting .241 (27-112) with two homeruns and 15 RBI, as well as team-high 19 runs scored.
In A Pinch
Bobak Emamian (Cheshire, Conn.) was called on to pinch hit on Sunday against Central Connecticut. The senior outfielder delivered a one-out double off the base of the left field wall that score two runs. For the year, Emamian has chipped in with 17 hits, eight RBI and nine runs scored in 22 games played.
Tough Out
Gabe Guerino (Milford, Conn.) continues to impress as he batted a team-high .412 last week as well as posting a team-best three walks. For the year, Guerino leads the team with a .368 average (25-68) with two homeruns, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored. Guerino also carries a team-best .471 slugging percentage anda a .444 on-base percentage.
Table Setter
Freshman lead-off hitter Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) is hitting at a .372 clip (16-43) when leading off an inning. The first-year shortstop is hitting .269 (29-108) with two homeruns, 12 RBI, six doubles and 16 runs scored.
