Mckenzie Owens joins the Quinnipiac University Athletic Training staff and will be working with Softball & Women's Soccer during her first season for the Bobcats.
Owens graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania in the spring of 2018. She was a student athletic trainer to multiple local high schools and colleges while attending and was assigned to the Reading Royals within the East Coast Hockey League in 2017. She was a starting left fielder and catcher for the Golden Wolves’ softball team all four years at Alvernia. She also enjoyed playing intramural volleyball and working for the intramural program at the University.
After earning her undergraduate degree, Owens went on to earn a Master’s degree in Health Administration from Western Connecticut State University in 2020. She worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer primarily covering football, softball, and women's basketball.
While working as the GA for the Wolves, Owens attended Oxford Ambulance Association where she became an Emergency Medical Technician. She went ahead to volunteer as an EMT the following year.
After two years as a Graduate Assistant at the Danbury, Conn. school, Owens moved to the Newport News, Va. Area. She was an Athletic Trainer and Orthotic Fitter at Riverside Orthopedics for two years before becoming an Intake Specialist at Adapt Health in February of 2022 with the arrival of her son.
Owens currently resides in East Haven, Conn. with her husband Jacob, two-year-old son Braxton, and two dogs Sven and Clover. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, spending days on the boat, enjoying her family and pets, as well as attending community events.
