Whaley begins her first season as Women's Golf Assistant Coach in 2018-19.
Whaley served as a captain for Quinnipiac women's golf for three years, including the 2016 season, when she helped the Bobcats win their first of two straight MAAC Championships. Whaley finished in 23rd place as an individual at the 2016 MAAC Championships in Florida, while her 79 on the first day of the three-day event ranked her ninth in the field. She shot a career low 74 (+2) at the Dartmouth Invitational, finishing the two-day tournament with a +6.
Over her career, Whaley played in a school-record 92 rounds, and compiled 75 birdies, which ranks sixth on the program's all-time list. She is one of only three golfers in program history to have 20 or more birdies in three different seasons.
Whaley is a part of a unique mother-daughter coaching tandem, as her mother Suzy Whaley has been a volunteer assistant coach with the Bobcats since 2013-14 while simultaneously serving as the first woman elected to serve as a national officer for the PGA of America. Suzy Whaley currently serves as the vice president of the PGA, and will take over as the organization's 41st president in November.
After graduating from Quinnipiac in 2016, Whaley went on to accept a position at Aetna in Hartford as a financial consultant. She has also served as a board treasurer for Girls on the Run of Greater Hartford, a 501c non-profit organization which integrates running into an experience-based curriculum to encourage girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.
For five years, Whaley also worked as a golf instructor for her mother's organization, Suzy Whaley Golf, working with different children's learning styles, as well as different age groups of children. Prior to her senior year at Quinnipiac, she had an internship with RSR Partners in Greenwich, Connecticut, working in their Global Sport Leadership practice. She completed a paper titled "Sports Responsibility to Groom the Next Group of Women Leaders," which discussed the current challenges for women to reach senior roles in corporate America, and how sports can help.
Whaley graduated from the Quinnipiac School of Business with a degree in economics and a minor in mathematics. She was also a member of the honors program and served as the secretary of the Quinnipiac Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Coach O'Connor on Whaley:
"I am thrilled to announce that Jenn Whaley will be my new assistant coach for the golf team," said O'Connor. "Jenn had a great career playing at Quinnipiac for all four years and was part of our first-ever MAAC Championship winning team. Jenn was a great leader and understands the demands placed on the student-athlete, and I will depend on her to help continue to build our program. Having Jenn involved with the team brings a new level of golf knowledge to our program, and she will also provide a very strong knowledge of junior golf and the recruiting process."
