Sara Gareiss joined the Quinnipiac University athletic training staff in July of 2014, currently serving as an assistant athletic trainer. Prior to Hamden, Gareiss enjoyed a three-year stint as an athletic trainer at Boston University.
Gareiss joined the Bobcats’ staff after working as the primary contact for men’s basketball, track & field/cross country, men’s rugby, women’s rowing, dance and 26 other club sports during her time at BU. In addition to her primary sports, Gareiss was responsible for reviewing various policies and procedures within the department, coordinating event coverage for physicians, and overseeing graduate assistants in their coverage and care for student-athletes.
Prior to Boston, Gareiss served as a physician extender at the Texas Health Care Bone & Joint Clinic in Fort Worth, Texas. Gareiss supervised five medical assistants during her time, while facilitating initiatives for the Fort Worth Sports Medicine Foundation. In addition, she was responsible for patient care in which she provided clients with initial evaluations and designed home exercise programs of physical therapy.
Gareiss earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University (TCU) in 2003 and later earned her master’s degree in 2005. Presently, she possesses four certifications and licensures: Board of Certification (2003); Massachusetts State License (2011); CPR for the Professional Rescuer (2010); and Clinical Instructor/Preceptor for Undergraduate Students (2004).
