Minlend Earns Metro Rookie of the Week Honors

EDISON, NJ – Quinnipiac women's volleyball first-year athlete Sophia Minlend has been selected as the Metro Rookie of the Week, as revealed by the conference office on Sept. 29, 2026.

Minlend posted two consecutive double-doubles to open up conference play this past weekend, registering 27 kills and 28 digs in total. The Berlin, Germany native recorded 16 kills and 17 digs in Friday's league opener at Iona, then posted 11 kills and 11 digs in the Bobcats' win over Manhattan on Saturday. She finished the weekend with 3.38 kills per set, and 3.50 digs per set.

For the year, Minlend has 91 kills and 74 digs over her first collegiate season.

She is the second Bobcat to capture Rookie of the Week honors so far in 2026. Giulia Ragusa was selected as the Metro Volleyball Rookie of the Week after her performance at the DSU Invitational (revealed by the league office on Sept. 8, 2026).

Quinnipiac women's volleyball returns to action tonight (Sept. 29), playing host to Merrimack at Burt Kahn Court for the program's 2026 home opener. First serve is set for 6:00 PM, streamed live on ESPN+.
