HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball program begins its 2025 campaign on Friday morning in Peoria, Ill., heading to Bradley for the CEFCU Invitational. The Bobcats will be playing a three-game weekend, taking on UT-Arlington and Western Illinois on Friday before wrapping the weekend up with the host Braves on Saturday.
SCOUTING BRADLEY
- The Missouri Valley-representatives went 15-16 a season ago with a 10-8 resume in conference play.
- The Braves bowed out of the 2024 MVC Tournament in the first round, falling in straight sets to Missouri State.
- Head coach Alicia Williams' squad led The Valley in both total aces and aces per set a season ago and were also top 25 nationally in digs and digs per set.
- This will be the first time these two squads meet up.
SCOUTING WESTERN ILLINOIS
- The Lumberjacks welcome eight new faces to the squad, with a pair of transfers and six freshmen joining.
- A pair of players earned All-OVC Preseason Honors, with Keyana Cruse earning all-conference accolades and Kennedy Adair earning Player to Watch honors for WIU.
- Cruse ranked second in total attacks and third in attacks per set in the NCAA and is in the top 10 of returning players with a 5.18 points per set average.
SCOUTING UT-ARLINGTON
- The Mavericks are coming off the 2024 WAC Title, finishing the regular season with the highest winning percentage (.926) and the best conference record in program history, going 16-0 for the first undefeated conference regular season since 1992.
- They were one of eight teams in the country with at least 29 wins, holding the seventh-highest winning percentage with a .906 mark.
- The squad was tabbed to finish second in the preseason coaches' poll, earning a pair of preseason all-conference honors, with Samantha Glenn earning preseason libero of the year honors. She joined Sophie Ocampo on the All-WAC team.
PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- Quinnipiac women's volleyball has been selected number two in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Grad student Elena Giacomini was voted the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, finishing last season second in the MAAC in both kills (434) and total points (509.5).
- Along with Giacomini being named to the Preseason All-MAAC team, teammates Damla Gunes and Ginevra Giovagnoni also joined her on the preseason team.
2024 SEASON REWIND
- The Bobcats finished the season with 19 wins, including a 15-3 mark in conference play.
- The Bobcats went on a streak of four straight matches without dropping a set.
- QU earned the No. 2 seed, defeating Rider in the semifinals before ultimately falling to Fairfield in four sets in the MAAC title game.
HEAD COACH KYLE ROBINSON
- Head Coach Kyle Robinson enters his seventh season with the Bobcats in 2024.
- Robinson is 224-160 over his career as a collegiate head coach (7 seasons at LIU before QU)
- Robinson has firmly cemented himself as one of the premiere college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac volleyball by becoming the first head coach in program history to lead the program to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022.
