Van Dyk Nominated for 2025 MA Sorensen Award

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac women's rugby graduate student Anna Van Dyk has been nominated for the 2024-2025 MA Sorensen Award, as announced on March 20, 2025. The award is given annually to the best women's collegiate rugby player in the nation.
Van Dyk, a First Team All-NIRA selection this past fall, found the try zone five times for the Bobcats in 2024. She recorded 70 tackles, 18 tackle assists, and logged a 96% tackle completion rate. The graduate student also had 103 carries and 471 meters made.
2024-25 MA SORENSEN AWARD NOMINEES
The MA Sorensen Award is named after MaryAnn (MA) Sorensen, who won a Rugby World Cup in 1991 with the USA and played in two more finals. She was a groundbreaking player, coach, and doctor, and remains a prime example of how high-level rugby players achieve on and off the field. MA Sorensen has been present at every Washington Athletic Club awards dinner to present the trophy that bears her name.

The nominees listed will be open to fan and team vote to help the Selection Panel create a list of finalists. From the finalists, the award winner will be decided by the Selection Committee.
Former Bobcat great Ilona Maher won the award in 2017. This is the 10th year of the Sorensen Award.
