Bobcats Fall to No. 8 Columbia in NCAA Tournament

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team fell 4-0 in a hard-fought match with No. 8 Columbia to finish their historic season on Friday afternoon.
The match was highlighted by the battles at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Despite losing their match, Ayato Arakaki and Donovan Brown pushed Columbia's duo of A. Kotzen and Ruger to a 7-5 set. At No. 1 doubles Shaurya Sood and Daniel Velek were within a game of taking Columbia's 16th ranked duo of T. Winegar and M. Zheng to a tiebreaker before the match was suspended.
The Lions were able to clinch with wins at No. 2, 3, 4 singles to end the Bobcats season. Carlos Braun Simo was up in the second set of his match when play was suspended for the clinching point.

- QU won 37 games, the most for a Bobcat team in the NCAA tournament since before 2010 when the Bobcats took 24 games at Stanford.
- It was almost the most games won by a MAAC team in the NCAA Tournament since Monmouth in 2019 took 48 games from No. 16 Columbia.
- QU finishes at 14-11, its best record since 2016.
- No. 8 Columbia will host Michigan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow afternoon.
