Women's Lacrosse Opens MAAC Slate at Canisius

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program opens league play on Friday afternoon, taking on Canisius at 4 p.m., in Buffalo.
The Bobcats are coming off a win at Old Dominion on Wednesday and are looking to follow up on its league semifinal appearance from a season ago.

Teams: Quinnipiac (1-5, 0-0 MAAC) at Canisius (7-1, 0-0 MAAC)

LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats earned their first win of the 2024 campaign on March 13, defeating Old Dominion 14-10 in Norfolk. Lauren Kenny and Angelina Sparacio had four-point days, with Kenny scoring four goals and Sparacio adding a hat trick with an assist.
Amy Nicoloff had four draw controls to go along with a pair of ground balls, while Melissa Murphy had three caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls.

The Bobcats currently sit second in the MAAC and 19th nationally in caused turnovers per game (10.00) and are third in the league and 20th in the country in ground balls per game (18.00).
Murphy is sitting as one of the country's best defenders, as she's second in the league and sixth in the country in caused turnovers per game (2.50). EllaGrace Delmond is fourth in the country and leads the MAAC with an .833 free-position percentage.
THE MATCHUP vs. Canisius
The Bobcats took both meetings a season ago, with each contest happening in Hamden 15 days apart. Quinnipiac won an overtime affair by a 9-8 final before knocking off the Golden Griffins 10-4 in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
Abby Wise had three points in the playoff game, scoring two goals and an assist, while EllaGrace Delmond had a pair of goals in the regular season contest. Melissa Murphy totaled four caused turnovers and five ground balls combined across the two contests.
