QU Wins 20th Game, Takes Over First Place Once Again
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball earned its 20th win of the 2023-24 season on Friday night at Hynes Athletics Center, topping Iona by the final score of 82-64.
The Bobcats (12-5 MAAC) are back atop the league standings with the win.
Alexis Reyes led the scoring charge with 13 total points (6-10 FG). Savion Lewis stuffed the stat sheet with 9 points, 12 assists and 6 rebounds.
The Bobcats got 31 points from their bench in the road victory – led by Rihards Vavers (11 points), Richie Springs (9 points), and Daemar Kelly (8 points).
Quinnipiac reaches 20 total wins in a season for the second consecutive year, and the fifth total time in the program's Division I history. It marks the 11th time in team history that the Bobcats have reached the 20-win mark.

NOTES
- The Bobcats shot 50% (33-of-66) in total, knocking down seven 3-pointers in the road victory. QU went 5-for-11 from 3-point range in the second half.
- Quinnipiac led for 35:28 in total. The Bobcats' largest lead was 18 points – the final margin of victory.
- QU closed the final 7:19 on a 21-11 run.
- Alexis Reyes scored 13 points to go along with eight rebounds over 33 minutes. He finished with a +22 plus/minus rating.
- Savion Lewis helped pace the Bobcats with 12 assists. He also added nine points and six rebounds. QU's point guard is averaging 7.3 helpers per contest in 2023-24, and has three games with double-digit assist totals this year.
- Matt Balanc and Rihards Vavers each chipped in with 11 points. Balanc has scored 10+ points in all but one game this year.
- Amarri Tice contributed with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.
- Richie Springs scored nine points (highest point total since Jan. 19) and grabbed three rebounds off the bench. He shot 4-of-5 from the floor.
- Daemar Kelly added eight points (season-high mark) and three rebounds.
- Paul Otieno added eight points and four rebounds in 23 minutes.
- Quinnipiac takes both regular season games against Iona, marking the first time the Bobcats have swept the Gaels since QU joined the league.
- The Bobcats are set to host Siena on Sunday, March 3 at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden (2:00 PM).
- Quinnipiac will honor its senior class prior to opening tip. The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 1:30 PM.
