Bobcats Fall vs. Stags in Nationally-Televised MAAC Battle

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball dropped a MAAC contest vs. Fairfield, 85-81, in front of a sold-out crowd at M&T Bank Arena (3,570) on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024.
Matt Balanc led the way for QU with 23 points and nine rebounds. Doug Young chipped in with 17 points off the bench on 7-of-11 shooting.
The Bobcats are now 19-7 (11-4 MAAC) with the result.

- The Bobcats shot 47.0% (31-66) in total, knocking down 15-of-33 from 3-point distance.
- QU outscored Fairfield 32-28 in the paint, and held a 28-15 advantage in bench scoring.
- There were nine lead changes in total, and the game was tied six times.
- Matt Balanc led the Bobcats in scoring once again, totaling 23 points on 8-of-17 shooting. His nine rebounds are the second-highest total of the season for the graduate guard (10 rebounds on 11/17 at Army).
- Doug Young added 17 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor. Young knocked down three triples for QU. He has six separate 10+ point efforts this season.
- Amarri Tice scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out three helpers, and recorded two steals.
- Paul Otieno tallied 10 points and eight rebounds on 5-of-6 shooting.
- Rihards Vavers recorded nine points and four rebounds, burying three triples off the bench.
- Savion Lewis dished out six assists.
- The game was tied 39-39 at halftime after Amarri Tice knocked down a triple at the buzzer, then Fairfield outscored QU 46-42 in the second half.
- Quinnipiac is now 4-2 over its last six vs. Fairfield. The Bobcats and the Stags split the regular season series with the result.
- The Bobcats return to the court on Sunday, Feb, 25, traveling down to Rider to continue the MAAC schedule.
