Monroe Helps Power Quinnipiac Past Maine

HAMDEN, Conn. – Amarri Monroe scored 21 points to lead the way for Quinnipiac Men's Basketball on Friday night in Hamden, as the Bobcats held on late to down Maine by the final score of 58-55 at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden.
Quinnipiac moves to 2-2 on the season with the win. The Bobcats have won both home games so far in 2024-25.
Monroe's 21 points came via 9-of-15 shooting. He also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded four steals.
Jaden Zimmerman added 12 points off the bench in the win, while Paul Otieno and Alexis Reyes both chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.
Savion Lewis made a driving floater with 22 seconds left in the game to extend QU's lead to three points, then the Bobcats got a stop on the other end to clinch the victory.

- Quinnipiac scored 11 straight points in the second half. The run ended with 11:36 left in the second half after a Jaden Zimmerman layup, which extended the Bobcats' lead to 43-31 at the time.
- QU's largest lead was 15 points (4:20 left in the second half).
- Amarri Monroe's 21-point performance finishes just two shy of his career high. Monroe scored 23 points in the season opener against Yale on Nov. 4. The Preseason MAAC Player of the Year is averaging 15.3 PPG through four matchups.
- First-year guard Jaden Zimmerman registered his third consecutive game with 10 or more points. He ranks second on the team in scoring (10.3 PPG) and has gone 14-of-24 from the field in his first collegiate season. Zimmerman went 5-for-8 in 24 minutes tonight vs. Maine.
- Starters Paul Otieno and Alexis Reyes both registered eight points and five rebounds. Otieno played 35 minutes in total, while Reyes was on the floor for 30 minutes. Reyes also grabbed four steals.
- Grant Randall added a season-best five points off the bench in 12 minutes of play.
- The Bobcats are now 10-4 against Maine since 2007. QU has won each of the last four meetings.
- Quinnipiac will now turn its attention to a road game at Navy on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 5:30 PM to continue the non-conference schedule.
