Bobcats Defeat Marist in Straight Sets on Senior Day

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team secured their third conference win in a row with a clean sweep over Marist on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats extended their winning streak to three matches as Damla Gunes recorded a double-double with 35 assists and ten digs.

SET ONE (25-21, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats opened the match strong with a 5-0 run, which Marist answered with a 3-0 streak to make it 5-3 early on.
Despite leading throughout, Quinnipiac faced a late 8-2 surge from Marist. However, it wasn't enough as Bobcats secured the opening set 25-21.
SET TWO (26-24)
Quinnipiac scored first, but Marist quickly tied it. Marist then took control with a 10-4 run, leading by four points until Quinnipiac responded with a 4-0 run to tie the score at 11-11.
The Bobcats built momentum with a 14-5 run, but Marist fought back with a 7-0 run of their own to take a 23-22 lead. The Bobcats finished the set strong, going on a 3-0 run to win 26-24.
SET THREE (25-20)
Quinnipiac started the set again with the first point, but Marist quickly evened the score. The Bobcats pulled away with a 7-0 run, establishing a 15-10 lead they would hold onto for the rest of the set.
Marist made a late push with a 4-0 run, but Quinnipiac closed out the set and match with a final point to win 25-20, completing the sweep.

The Bobcats will travel to New Rochelle, NY, to face Iona on November 16 at 1:00 p.m. as they wrap up league play next weekend.

- Two different Bobcats recorded double-digit kills: Yagmur Gunes, with 18 kills, and Elena Giacomini, with 12, recorded double-digit kills in her last nine games.
- Leiani-kai Giusta led the team in digs, recording 14.
- The Bobcats had 48 kills to Marist's 32.
- Quinnipiac registered a total of 46 assists, with Damla Gunes leading the way with 35.
