Bobcats Earn Third-Straight Win With Sweep Over Hampton

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball earned its third straight victory, downing Hampton in sweeping fashion at the Henson Hawk Invitational inside of the Hytche Athletic Center on Friday afternoon.
Yagmur led Quinnipiac with a double-double, totaling 16 kills and 10 digs while Leilani-kai Giusta added nine kills and seven digs. Damla Gunes contributed 35 assists and Bailey Brashear totaled six kills and five service aces.
With the victory, Quinnipiac improved to 4-4 in the early campaign, while Hampton fell to 0-1 to begin its season.

SET ONE (25-11, Quinnipiac)
Quinnipiac got off to a 13-3 start in the first set behind four kills from Leilani-kai Giusta and two service aces apiece from Bailey Brashear and Alexandra Tennon. Quinnipiac never wavered in the set, coasting to a 25-11 set victory.
SET TWO (25-11)
Quinnipiac kept its foot on the gas, slowly building a 14-7 set in the second set. The Bobcats then went on an 8-2 run to extend the lead to 22-9 before taking the set 25-11.
SET THREE (25-10)
Hampton got off to a hot start in the third set, taking a 5-1 lead before Quinnipiac responded with a an 8-1 run to take a 9-7 lead. Quinnipiac never looked back in the set, building the lead to 18-9, doubling up the Pirates. The Bobcats eventually held on, taking the set and the match in sweeping fashion.

The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 9, when they close play at the Henson Hawk Classic when they will take on hosts UMES at 2 p.m.
