HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac field hockey came up short against crosstown rivals Yale, as the Bobcats were downed by the Bulldogs at home, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium.

Julianna Cappello led the offense with a goal, while Mo Quaile tallied her first career collegiate point with an assist in the loss.

With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 3-4 on the 2023 season, while Yale improved to 3-5 in its campaign.

SCORING SUMMARY

Q1 – (4:25) – Mo Quaile shuffled a pass to Julianna Cappello just outside of the circle. Cappello carried the ball into the offensive zone and fired one past the keeper low to put QU ahead 1-0.
Q2 – (29:44) – Ashley Kim received a pass from Colette Staadecker in the zone off a penalty corner and found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1
Q3 – (43:35) – On a penalty corner, Ellie Barlow found Staadecker, who moved the ball to Julia Freedman. Freedman fired on net and put Yale ahead 2-1

Julianna Cappello's goal was her second of the season and 15th of her career
Mo Quaile's assist was her first career collegiate point
Cristina Torres made three saves in the contest
