Bobcats Earn Comeback Victory, Defeat Rider in 2OT Thriller

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball won a double-overtime thriller on Sunday afternoon in Hamden, topping Rider by the final score of 90-88 at M&T Bank Arena.
Quinnipiac erased a 16-point deficit to earn its 19th victory of the 2022-23 campaign. Rider led 57-41 with 12:11 remaining, and QU closed out regulation on a 30-14 run to force overtime.
Dezi Jones led the way with a career-high 28 points, going 8-of-16 from the floor in total. Jones scored five points in the second half, then tallied 11 of QU's 19 points over the two overtime frames.
Matt Balanc added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Alexis Reyes chipped in with 12 points and three rebounds, and Tyrese Williams recorded 11 points in the victory.

- The Bobcats shot 43.1% (25-for-58) in total, going 6-of-10 during the two overtime periods. QU went 4-for-5 from the field during the second overtime period.
- Dezi Jones led Quinnipiac in scoring, registering 11 of his 28 points during the two overtime periods. Jones added four rebounds and four assists. He shot 8-of-16 from the floor on his career-high scoring day.
- Matt Balanc recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds, his first double-double of the season. 11 rebounds matches Balanc's career-high mark – as he also grabbed 11 rebounds at Niagara on 2/10/23.
- Alexis Reyes added a season-high 12 points on 30+ minutes. He shot 4-of-7 from the field and grabbed three rebounds. The transfer from East Carolina has now recorded double-digit point totals in two games this year.
- Tyrese Williams chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds off the bench. Williams went 3-of-6 shooting.
- There were 10 ties and nine lead changes in total.
- Rider led for 23:10, and QU led for 20:40
- QU's bench outscored Rider 33-28.
- The Broncs outrebounded Quinnipiac 45-33, grabbing 14 offensive boards.
- Baker Dunleavy now has 85 wins in his time as Head Coach at Quinnipiac.
- The Bobcats are up to 19 wins, the most in a season since 2013-14 (20 total wins). QU has won 20+ games in just three seasons during the Division I era.
- Quinnipiac is up to 10 MAAC regular season wins, just one short of the most league wins (11) in Baker Dunleavy's time with the program. The Bobcats went 11-7 in conference action in 2018-19.
