Men's Hoops Battles to OT Win at Niagara

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball earned a road win in overtime on Sunday afternoon, downing Niagara by the final score of 75-68 at the Gallagher Center.
The Bobcats outscored Niagara 12-5 in overtime. Matt Balanc hit a pair of key 3-pointers to put QU ahead at the start of the extra frame.
Balanc led the way for QU with 19 points and seven rebounds, going 8-of-18 from the floor.
Savion Lewis stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, eight assists and five rebounds.
Paul Otieno chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Amarri Tice recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.

- Quinnipiac shot 30-of-69 (43.5%) in total, going 7-for-16 from 3-point range.
- The Bobcats went 15-of-27 (55.6%) from the floor in the second half, then 3-of-6 (50.0%) during the OT period.
- The Bobcats led for 39:46 in total. The game was tied three times.
- Quinnipiac outscored the Purple Eagles 42-32 in the paint, and held a 12-2 advantage in fast break points.
- Matt Balanc paced QU with 19 points and seven rebounds. Balanc leads QU in scoring this year (17.0 PPG), and has recorded double-digit point totals in seven of eight games. He's up to 1,248 career points, which ranks 25th in Quinnipiac's program history.
- Savion Lewis added 18 points, eight helpers and five rebounds. He leads the nation once again in assists per game (8.1 APG). Lewis has scored 10+ points in three of the last five matchups.
- Paul Otieno added 15 points and nine boards, going 7-of-9 from the floor. Otieno finished with a +12 plus-minus rating, the best of any Bobcat in the road win.
- Amarri Tice chipped in with 10 points, nine rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting. Tice ranks second on the team in scoring (10.8 PPG) during his first season with the team.
- Doug Young scored nine points off the bench – his second largest scoring total this season. He went a perfect 3-of-3 from distance.
- The Bobcats are 12-11 against the Purple Eagles since joining the MAAC in 2013-14.
- QU is the only MAAC team with six wins thus far in 2023-24.
