
Bobcats Fall in Three Sets at Delaware State

DOVER, DEL. – Despite a team-best seven kills from first-year Ginevra Giovagnoni, the Quinnipiac volleyball team fell short on the road against Delaware State in three sets Saturday afternoon inside of Memorial Hall.
Fellow first-year Damla Gunes added a team-high 18 assists and 11 digs for a double-double.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
The Bobcats found themselves trailing early in the set, 8-3, before battling back to cut the deficit to 8-6. However the Hornets withstood the run and extended their lead to 11-6 to force a Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats were able to trim the deficit to 11-10 behind a kill from Nicole Legg, two kills from Ginevra Giovagnoni and a service ace from Yagmur Gunes. Delaware State withstood Quinnipiac's run, extending its lead to 20-14 before taking the first set, 25-14.
SET TWO (25-18)
The two sides played to an early 8-8 tie in the set before Delaware State pulled ahead 12-8 to force Quinnipiac to take a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Hornets built their lead to 20-14 before Quinnipiac called a second timeout. The deficit proved to be too great for the Bobcats, as they eventually fell in the set, 25-18.
SET THREE (25-20)
The two sides were even nearly midway through the set at 13-13 before Delaware State pushed ahead 18-14. However, the Bobcats battled back behind a kill from Lexi Morse, a Delaware State attack error and a service ace from Giovagnoni to trim the deficit to 18-17. However, it wasn't enough as the Hornets built its lead to 21-18 before taking the set 25-20 and the match, 3-0.

- The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 9 when they open play at the Comfort Inn-Vitational, hosted by Morehead State
