12/9/2022 10:36:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey
HAMDEN, Conn. — The goals kept on coming as the No. 2/3 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program potted a season-high eight, defeating league foe RPI 8-3 on Friday night at M&T Bank Arena. The tallies came from eight different goalscorers as Rand Pecknold's club extended its unbeaten streak to 12 with one more contest before the holiday break.
Quinnipiac's first three came over a 7:02 stretch of the first, with a Sam Lipkin rocket getting things started at the 4:28 mark of the period. Victor Czerneckianair and Desi Burgart followed suit, scoring 3:34 apart.
Joey Cipollone scored what would be the game-winner at 3:33 in the second, but the Bobcats were far from done as Christophe Fillion and Michael Lombardi scored 25 seconds apart at the midway mark of the second.
Collin Graf and Jake Johnson also netted goals in the five-goal frame for the Bobcats.

Quinnipiac wraps up the home slate for the 2022 calendar year on Saturday night, hosting Union for a 7 p.m., puck drop at M&T Bank Arena.

STATS AND NOTES
- Tonight is one of 14, eight-goal performances by an NCAA Division I team tonight. It is the second by an ECAC squad, as Colgate netted eight against Yale on Nov. 19.
- It is the most goals of the 2022-23 campaign and highest total since Jan. 18, 2022 when they tallied nine against Princeton.
- That matchup was also the last time the Bobcats had at least eight different goalscorers in a contest. They had nine that night.
- Five goals in the second period is the most in a frame this year, besting the four they had in the middle frame against Maine on Oct. 23. The last time they hit that number in a period was Nov. 20, 2021, when they tallied exactly that against St. Lawrence.
- Quinnipiac increased its nation's best unbeaten streak to 12 and is currently 9-0-0 in ECAC play.
- The Bobcats are now 22-1-2 in their last 25 home games and have won six in a row at M&T Bank Arena.
