Men's Ice Hockey Senior Captain Earns Third Straight Player of the Month Honor
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior captain Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for March, as announced by the league office on Thursday, April 1.
Tufto earned his third straight ECAC Hockey Player of the Month honor, and won a player of the month award every month this season after he was named the Hockey Commissioners Association National Men's Player of the Month honors in December.
He led all ECAC Hockey skaters in March with three goals, four assists and seven points as he recorded at least one point in each of the Bobcats' four games. He had multi-point games with three points against Colgate on March 5 and ended the season with a goal and an assist in the NCAA Tournament vs. Minnesota State.
Tufto ended the season with points in eight consecutive games, recording 18 points in that stretch that was his second-longest point streak of the season after a 12-game stretch from Dec. 19-Jan. 17.
He posted one of the best seasons in Quinnipiac men's ice hockey history as he led the nation with 39 assists, 1.34 assists per game and 20 power-play assists. Tufto also ranked second nationally with 47 points, 1.62 points per game and 22 power-play points, as well as third with 379 faceoff wins and four with a .624 faceoff percentage.
Tufto has a long list of accolades in his senior season as he was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, First Team All-ECAC Hockey and is a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He was also named to the All-College Hockey News Second Team.
Yesterday, Tufto signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning and will begin his professional career with their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.
