CHESHIRE, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's lacrosse is set to open the 2021 season on Saturday, hosting St. Bonaventure at Cheshire Academy.

The Bobcats open an eight-game spring 2021 schedule at 12:00 PM in Cheshire, Conn. The game will be streamed live (free) on www.gobobcats.com.

THIRD YEAR UNDER MASON POLI

The Bobcats are in their third year under Head Coach Mason Poli in 2021
Poli guided Quinnipiac to a 9-7 (5-2 MAAC) record in 2019 as Interim Head Coach, as the Bobcats made their third-ever appearance in the MAAC Tournament championship contest. Poli finished the 2019 season with the most wins for any first-year head coach in Division I lacrosse.
The Bobcats then played just six games (all non-conference) in 2020 before the cancellation of the remainder of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Poli, a former standout lacrosse player at Bryant University, is currently in his seventh season on the Bobcats' coaching staff.

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE

The Bonnies are led by Head Coach Randy Mearns, who joined St. Bonaventure in 2017.
The team went 0-6 last year in six non-conference games, prior to the cancellation of the season.
Matthew DeGirolamo, Jake Rosa, and Jackson Rose all recorded five goals in 2020 to lead the Bonnies.
Quinnipiac won the first-ever matchup between the two teams (12-7) on March 23, 2019 in Hamden. Jake Tomsik recorded two goals and one assist in the win, and Will Abbott scored twice.

TERRIFIC TOMSIK

Jake Tomsik paced the Bobcats offensively in 2020, recording 17 points (11 goals, six assist).
Tomsik has 75 goals and 121 points so far in 37 career games with the Bobcats. He is already one of 15 players in Quinnipiac program history to surpass 100 points.
The senior was named to the All-MAAC First Team in 2019 after posting 60 points (37 goals, 23 assists). He was then named MAAC Co-Preseason Player of the Year in 2020.
Tomsik's 121 career points ranks 11^th in program history, and his 75 goals rank 12^th.

WILL'S WORLD

Will Abbott is back for his junior season, after recording 50 points (31 goals, 19 assists) over his first two years with the Bobcats,
In the shortened 2020 season, Abbott recorded 11 goals and five assists for 16 total points. He had two four-goal games prior to the cancellation of the season.
The MAAC All-Rookie and All-MAAC First Team selection in 2019 posted 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points in his first year at Quinnipiac.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT

John DeLucia and Jake Tellers both recorded eight goals in their first six collegiate games last season for the Bobcats.
Tellers scored eight times to go along with four assists for 12 points – recording three multi-goal games.
DeLucia also scored eight times, including a three-goal game vs. UMass Lowell on Feb. 8.

BRICK. WALL.

Junior goalkeeper Nick DiMuccio finished his first season with the Bobcats in 2019 ranked No. 4 nationally in saves per game (13.88). He made 10+ stops in 14 of 16 games as a First-Year goalie, including 19 saves vs. Yale on April 23.
He then made 79 saves in six QU games in 2020, stopping 13.17 shots per contest – which ranked No. 16 nationally.
DiMuccio has made 303 career saves, stopping 51.2 percent of shots.

GEORGE ON THE DRAW

Sophomore Demitri George was locked in at the faceoff x last season, leading the MAAC in ground balls per game (9.67). George ranked 7th nationally in ground balls per contest.
George has won 91-of-149 battles in the faceoff x, good for a 61.1 winning percentage.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES

Senior Jake Tomsik and Junior Will Abbott were both named to the Preseason All-MAAC squad, as announced by the conference on March 3, 2021.

2021 SCHEDULE

The Bobcats' program released its 2021 spring schedule on Jan. 21.
Quinnipiac's schedule features eight total games.
Quinnipiac will play MAAC foe Marist twice over the course of the spring, and will also face league opponents Siena, St. Bonaventure, Monmouth, Manhattan, Canisius and Detroit Mercy once.
