Bobcats' Senior Captain Led League with 11 Points in January
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior captain Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) has been named the ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Month for January, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Tufto's ECAC Hockey Player of the Month honor is the first of his career after he was named the league's rookie of the month in February 2018. Tufto also earned the Hockey Commissioners' Association National Men's Player of the Month in December.
Earlier this month, Tufto was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on Jan. 11 and had also earned the league's First Star of the Week on Dec. 28.
Tufto led ECAC Hockey with 11 points in January and tied for 12th in the nation in the month in points. He also led the league with 10 assists and tied for second nationally. He also ranked second in ECAC Hockey with a .557 faceoff percentage.
He started the month with points in six straight games as part of a 12-game point streak, the longest point streak in the nation and longest point streak by a Bobcat since Sam Anas '16 in the 2015-16 season.
So far this season, Tufto is tied for the national lead with 28 points and owns the national lead with 24 assists. He also leads the league with 12 power-play assists and 14 power-play points, and is third with a .617 faceoff percentage.
Tufto now ranks third in program history with 114 career assists, and is third in Division I program history and eighth overall with 149 career points. Nationally, Tufto has the most career points by active NCAA Ice Hockey players and he is the only player with 100 career assists. He is averaging 1.16 points per game in his career.
The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team returns to action this weekend in a series against the St. Lawrence Saints, with puck drop set for Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m. at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
