Bobcats Goaltender One of Two Goalies from ECAC Hockey Recognized
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey goaltender Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) has been named to the Mike Richter Award "Watch List," as announced by the Hockey Commissioners' Association (HCA) on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Petruzzelli is one of two goaltenders from ECAC Hockey and one of 36 goaltenders in the nation to be named to the Mike Richter Award "Watch List."
A committee of voters – made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts and media – will pare this list down to approximately 15 names within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.
Petruzzelli is in the midst of one of his best seasons yet as a Bobcat as he leads the nation with 18 games played, second in the nation with four shutouts and third with 10 wins. He owns a 10-5-3 record along with a .929 save percentage and 1.79 GAA.
Earlier in 2020-21, Petruzzelli became the second goaltender in program history and 27th Division I NCAA Men's Ice Hockey player to record three straight shutouts from Jan. 10-17. He posted the second-longest shutout streak in program history at 201:41.
In his career, Petruzzelli owns a career 2.19 GAA and .914 save percentage with 10 shutouts and a 44-24-7 record. He is tied for second in Division I program history in shutouts, fourth in GAA, fifth in save percentage and tied for fifth in wins.
He earned the ECAC Hockey Player and Goaltender of the Week awards on Jan. 18 and previously earned the league's Second Star of the Week on Dec. 21.
