Late 12-2 Run Sparks Third-Straight Victory

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's basketball earned a 69-68 road win at Iona to close out the 2019-20 regular season on Wednesday night at the Hynes Center.

With the win, the Bobcats close out the 2019-20 regular season with three consecutive wins. Quinnipiac now awaits the results from Friday's MAAC games, which will help determine what seed the Bobcats will earn heading into the 2020 MAAC Tournament in Atlantic City.

The Bobcats went on a 12-2 run late in the second half to help earn the road win. The run started with 5:41 left in the second half on a Tyrese Williams three-pointer, and ended with a Rich Kelly jumper with 1:11 left. Quinnipiac was down four points before the run, then up six points once the run ended.

NOTES

The Bobcats knocked down seven three-point field goals over the course of the first 20 minutes. Quinnipiac also forced Iona to shoot just 10-of-34 from the floor, taking a 36-29 lead into the locker room.
Quinnipiac has now won two-straight games in New Rochelle, as the Bobcats also picked up a win at Iona on Feb. 8 of last season.
Tyrese Williams led the way for the Bobcats with 18 points to go along with a season-high nine rebounds. The sophomore's rebound total ties a career-best mark, as he also grabbed nine rebounds at Monmouth on Feb. 24, 2019.
Rich Kelly added 17 points, five assists and four rebounds. The junior shot 7-of-15 from the floor, knocking down three three-point field goals in the victory.
Kevin Marfo chipped in with eight points, 18 rebounds, five assists and three steals for QU. Marfo grabbed nine offensive rebounds and nine defensive rebounds. He has collected 10+ boards in all but one game for Quinnipiac so far this year.
Jacob Rigoni recorded eight points and five rebounds, and Tyree Pickron chipped in with eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
Quinnipiac outrebounded Iona 47-39.
The Bobcats led for 33:29 in total.
