Adelaide-Native to Raise Money for Australia Bushfire Crisis

HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior forward Jacob Rigoni and the Quinnipiac men's basketball program are teaming up to raise money for CFS Volunteer Firefighters in response to Australia's bushfire crisis.
Australia is currently being ravaged by the worst wildfires seen in decades, with large swaths of the country devastated since the fire season began in late July.
At least 28 people have died nationwide, and in the state of New South Wales (NSW) alone, more than 3,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged, according to CNN.com. State and federal authorities are struggling to contain the massive blazes, even with firefighting assistance from other countries, including the United States.
To make a donation, visit https://squareup.com/store/QUstudentfundraising. All funds raised will be donated directly to the CFS Volunteer Firefighters as they continue to battle Australia's bushfires.
The Bobcats will also be raising money for CFS Volunteer Firefighters at two upcoming home games. Tables will be set up in the lobby of the People's United Center in Hamden on Friday, Feb. 7 vs. Iona (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday, Feb. 9 vs. Manhattan (2:00 p.m.) to donate.
