Bobcats Improve to 2-0 in MAAC
HAMDEN, Conn. – Rich Kelly (22 points) and Jacob Rigoni (21 points) paced the Bobcats' offense on Tuesday night at the People's United Center in Hamden, leading Quinnipiac men's basketball past Rider by the final score of 80-61.
With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 7-5 in 2019-20 – moving to a perfect 2-0 early on in MAAC play.
The Bobcats shot 26-of-54 (48.1 percent) in total, drilling 13 more three-pointers in the win. Quinnipiac went on a 13-3 run over the last 3:29 of the first half, extending the lead from one point to 11.

- QU assisted on 17 of 26 made field goals, led by Rich Kelly's season-high eight helpers.
- Junior Jacob Rigoni scored a season-high 21 points, going 7-for-8 from three-point range. Rigoni made his first seven attempts from distance, recording the highest total of made three-pointers for any Quinnipiac player since Cameron Young made eight threes on March 9 vs. Monmouth in the MAAC Tournament.
- Fellow junior Rich Kelly finished with a team-high 21 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 35+ minutes.
- Sophomore guard Tyrese Williams added nine points and three rebounds, finishing a team-best +22 when he was on the floor.
- Junior Kevin Marfo grabbed 11 more rebounds, extending his streak of 10+ boards to 12 games. He is the only Division I player in the country to grab 10 or more rebounds every time he has taken the floor this year, and is now averaging 13.3 rebounds per game.
- First-year big man Seth Pinkney recorded seven points and three rebounds, adding three blocked shots in the win.
- First-year guard Brendan McGuire chipped in with seven points, four assists and three rebounds in his second collegiate start.
- The Bobcats led for 37:43 in total. It's the fourth time this season that Quinnipiac has scored 80+ points.
- Quinnipiac is now 4-12 all-time vs. Rider, winning each of the last two matchups between the teams.
- Quinnipiac has two more home games this week on Jan. 10 vs. Niagara (7:00 PM) and Jan. 12 vs. Monmouth (2:00 PM).
