Full 2019-20 Non-Conference Schedule
HAMDEN, Conn. – A trip to Miami and a pair of tournaments highlight the Quinnipiac men's basketball team's 2019-20 non-conference schedule, which was released by Head Coach Baker Dunleavy and the program on Monday, July 1. The non-conference slate includes 10 games in total, including four at the People's United Center in Hamden.
The Bobcats will travel to Miami on Nov. 16, marking the program's first-ever game vs. an ACC opponent. The matchup is the second-ever meeting between the two programs, as Miami defeated Quinnipiac 80-66 on Dec. 29, 1999 at Miami Arena.
Quinnipiac will also host the Bobcats Invitational from Nov. 22-24, squaring off with Albany, Presbyterian and Sacred Heart over a three-day span in Hamden. The Bobcats finish non-conference action at the Boardwalk Classic from Dec. 20-21 in Atlantic City, facing Drexel and either Bowling Green or Norfolk State at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall – which is also the location of the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships in March.
Quinnipiac will open the season on Nov. 13 at Brown, the third meeting in the last four seasons between the Bobcats and Bears. Brown won the last meeting between the two teams on Nov. 13, 2017 in Hamden, 79-72, as then-freshman Rich Kelly recorded 14 points and eight assists for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats are 2-8 all-time vs. Brown
Quinnipiac will then head to Miami, before returning to Hamden to host its first three games of the season in the Bobcats Invitational at the People's United Center. Each of the four teams (Quinnipiac, Albany, Presbyterian, Sacred Heart) will play three games in three days during the tournament. The Bobcats will play Albany (Nov. 22) on Day 1, then square off with Presbyterian (Nov. 23) on Day 2 before wrapping up action vs. Sacred Heart (Nov. 24) on Day 3.
The Bobcats then travel to NEC foe Fairleigh Dickinson for a midweek contest on Dec. 3. Quinnipiac is 15-16 all-time against FDU, winning each of the last seven meetings. The matchup will be the first since Quinnipiac was a member of the NEC.
New Hampshire then makes the trip to Hamden on Dec. 7 for the second meeting between the Bobcats and Wildcats in as many years. Quinnipiac earned a 69-63 road win in Durham last season, as rising junior Jacob Rigoni led the way with 23 points and nine rebounds.
The Bobcats then travel to Maine for a Dec. 15 contest in Orono. Quinnipiac hosted the Black Bears in both 2017-18 and 2018-19, winning last year's contest, 58-50, behind 19 points from then-freshman Tyrese Williams.
Non-conference play concludes in Atlantic City, as the Bobcats will clash with Drexel on Dec. 20, then either Bowling Green or Norfolk State on Dec. 21 as part of the 2019 Boardwalk Classic. The Boardwalk Battle will be hosted at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall – the same location as the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships.
The Bobcats finished the 2018-19 season with a 16-15 overall record - the program's first winning season since 2013-14. The Bobcats earned a postseason appearance for just the fifth time in program history, playing in the opening round of the CIT for the third time ever.
