Former Bobcat Sparks Boston Bruins to Game One Victory in Stanley Cup Finals
BOSTON, Mass. – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey captain Connor Clifton '17 scored his first NHL Stanley Cup Final goal for the Boston Bruins Monday night in game one of the series with the St. Louis Blues.
Clifton's goal was the first for the Bruins of the Stanley Cup Finals, sparking the teams to a 4-2 comeback victory over the Blues to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Clifton's goal was his second of the playoffs after he scored his first NHL goal, regular season or postseason, on May 12 in game two of the eastern conference finals against Carolina.
He also drew a penalty Monday that led to a Bruins power-play goal and intercepted a pass to later set-up the Bruins game-winning goal as he logged 13:13 of ice time. Clifton was rewarded for his efforts as he was named the number three stars.
Clifton has now played in 13 games in the playoffs after 19 games in the regular season. He has two goals and two assists for four points this postseason.
Prior to and following the beginning of the Stanley Cup Finals, Clifton was featured in several local and national media outlets along with Quinnipiac men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold. To read those stories, click the links below.
