Former Volunteer Assistant Earns Full-Time Role
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac women's rugby head coach Becky Carlson has announced the promotion of Brad Dufek to full-time assistant coach, effective immediately.
Dufek becomes the team's assistant coach after finishing his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach in 2018 and helping the Bobcats earn national titles in his first three seasons with the program.
In addition to his time at Quinnipiac, Dufek is the Director of 7's for the New Haven RFC in the Summer, assists with the NHRFC Men's 15's side in the Fall, and was the head coach of the Village Lions NYC Women's 7's program in the Summers of 2015-16.
"Brad has been with our program for the last four years and three of those have yielded national championships," said Carlson. "Our choice to add Brad to the staff was a no brainer, with not only 4 years experience in NCAA rugby development, but with a diverse rugby portfolio and wealth of knowledge and professionalism as well. We are excited to bring him on board full-time."
Dufek graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2014 with a degree in Business Administration and an emphasis in sales and marketing.
As a four year starter in both Division I and Division II, Dufek led Stout to consecutive top 20 finishes in 2013 and 2014, with a National round of eight appearance in 2014 as a player-coach and backs captain. In 2013, after a successful run in the Wisconsin 7's Series, Stout went on to qualify for and finish as Runner-Up at the USA Rugby College 7's Championships for Division II.
Dufek still holds an administrative role as Collegiate Coordinator for the Wisconsin Rugby Football Union, and actively participates with the collegiate divisions of both NSCRO and USA Rugby.

"I feel very fortunate to now have the opportunity to fully immerse myself into the Bobcat rugby program," stated Dufek. "There are many things that I look forward to accomplishing with this group moving forward into next fall and I could not be more thrilled."
