HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball team has received a commitment from center Seth Pinkney, as announced by Head Coach Baker Dunleavy and the program at the start of the NCAA's regular signing period on Wednesday, April 17.
Pinkney – a 7-foot big man from Warminster, Pennsylvania – played his high school basketball at Archbishop Wood Catholic until 2017-18 with current Bobcats' guard Tyree Pickron. Following his time in Warminster, Pinkney played one full post-graduate season at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida.
"We are very excited to have Seth and his family join our program," Dunleavy said. "Seth has played for two high school powers – Archbishop Wood (Pennsylvania) and Montverde Academy (Florida) – as well as K Low Elite on the AAU Circuit, which has allowed him to compete against some of the top competition in the country. He is a hard-playing, team-first young man who will help us with his length and athletic ability right away. We can't wait to get him on campus and get to work."
Pinkney has played with and against some of high school basketball's top competition in various showcases and tournaments, including a stint at the Adidas Gauntlet. In the summer of 2018 at The Gauntlet – a three-stop travel team circuit – Pinkney scored 69 total points to go along with 39 rebounds over 12 games while playing for K Low Elite. He recorded 12 points on two separate occasions, shooting an impressive 64.3 percent from the floor during the entire showcase.
Pinkney will join the Bobcats in 2019-20 as a freshman with four full years of eligibility. He is the second new addition to Quinnipiac men's basketball's roster for the upcoming season, as the program announced the signing of Long-Island native Brendan McGuire on Nov. 15, 2018.
