Bobcats Take Aim at 2019 MAAC Golf Championship

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The MAAC Women's Golf Championships return to Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida for the fifth consecutive year and will get underway on Thursday morning.

Quinnipiac, led by sophomore Queenie Lai, looks to return to the winner's circle after back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017.

The three round (54 holes) championship begins with round one on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 a.m., with round two taking place Friday, April 19. The championship round will be broadcast on ESPN3 on Saturday, April 20, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT - Hoya Women's Invitational

Lai placed in the top five at the Hoya Women's Invitational, hosted by Georgetown. Lai posted a 54-hole score of 222 (+6) to earn fifth place out of 46 golfers.
Lai birdied the 11th hole, giving her six birdies in the tournament. After starting +2 through ten holes, the Hong Kong native parred seven straight holes and finished with a 75 (+3).
Luciana Tobia played the front nine in 37 strokes (+1) and birdied the 11th hole, finishing with her second sub-80 round of the tournament. Tobia's 54-hole score of +21 placed her in a tie for 29th overall.
After two straight rounds of 80, Alexandra Sahzin posted a final round scorecard that included three birdies and nine pars, en route to a final round 76 (+4). The junior finished 28th overall at +20, but her final round score was tied for 15th best on Tuesday.
Elena Lopez continued to improve with each round of the event, finishing with a 76 (+4) thanks to two birdies and a +1 back nine. Lopez finished the tournament with five birdies in her last two rounds.
Elena Ybarra showed the largest improvement in the final round, improving by seven strokes from the first round to the last. Her final round 78 ties for her second-lowest score of the spring season and moved her up four spots to a tie for 36th.
