Bobcats Picked Behind Defending Champion Albany
The Bobcats are again led by 2017 MAAC Player and Rookie of the Year, Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Connecticut), and Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) who earned both honors in 2016.
"This team expects to be in the hunt for another conference championship," said Head Coach John O'Connor. "We will continue to practice the way we have with the focus on being stronger and hungrier to get better and winning. Our four great freshmen push everyone on this team to be better and work harder. This is the best team that I've coached and my expectations are high for them."
The Bobcats spring schedule opens in Kiawah Island, South Carolina at the Kiawah Island Classic, hosted by College of Charleston at Osprey Point and Oak Point Golf Course on Feb. 24-26.
Defending champion Albany received 77 points in the poll and five first-place votes. The Great Danes are the defending champions, as they tallied a score of +57 (921) at last year's championship. The Bobcats followed Albany in the poll with 67 points and three first-place votes.
Following Quinnipiac with one first-place vote is the University of Dayton (60) in third, the University of Hartford (55) placed fourth, and Siena (46) was picked fifth. Selected sixth was Monmouth (30), followed by La Salle University and Fairfield tied for seventh with 24 points. Niagara (22) rounds out the women's poll.
The 2019 MAAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships return to Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL for the fourth consecutive year. The three round 54-hole championship takes place April 18-20. For more information regarding the 2019 MAAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships visit, maacsports.com/golf.
