HAMDEN, Conn. – The 2019 Quinnipiac women's rugby season came to an end Saturday evening at the hands of the Army West Point Black Knights. The top-seeded Black Knights advanced to the NIRA Championship with a 54-10 victory over the Bobcats at the Anderson Rugby Complex
First year Maya le Rossignol tallied both of Quinnipiac's tries, while Sam Sullivan had four tries for the hosts.
The Bobcats made a strong push in the opening 15 minutes of play, winning two early scrums and nearly finding the try zone on two occasions.
Army had five instances where it scored tries less than five minutes apart. Sullivan had tries less than three minutes apart on two separate occasions.
The loss ends the collegiate careers of Quinnipiac seniors Mikah Maples, Meg Rose, Emma Shipton, and Niamh Savage. The group won 27 games in four seasons (.659 win %) including back-to-back NIRA National Championships in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
