
Women's Hockey to Take on #3 Cornell, Colgate this Weekend

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's hockey team heads back on the road to take on #3 Cornell and Colgate for the second and third ECAC Hockey games of the season. The Bobcats will take on the Big Red on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Bobcats and the Raiders will face off at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac dropped its first road game of the season in a 4-2 loss at Princeton. Senior Kenzie Prater tied the game up in the second period with a slapt shot from the left side. The Bobcats and the Tigers went into the third period tied, 1-1, but Princeton would score three goals in the third to take a 4-1 lead. With about one minute left in the game, junior Brooke Bonsteel scored her first goal of the season to put the Bobcats within two goals.
Scouting Cornell
The #3 Cornell Big Red have played two games so far this season against Robert Morris. The Big Red shutout the Colonials, 6-0 and 3-0, Oct. 25-26. Gillis Frechette leads the Big Red with six points on three goals and three assists. In the net, Lindsay Browning has recorded two shutouts and has made 35 saves.
All-Time Against the Big Red
Quinnipiac has an all-time record of 9-17-7 against Cornell. During the 2018-19 season, Quinnipiac dropped two close games to Cornell each by a score of 2-1.
Scouting Colgate
The Raiders will open ECAC play against Princeton and Quinnipiac this weekend. Colgate stands at 5-3-1 overall after most recently dropping a 3-1 game to Minnesota Duluth. Before the loss against the Bulldogs, the Raiders had won three straight against UConn and Syracuse. Noemi Neubauerová leads the team with eight points on four goals and four assists. Liz Auby leads the Raiders in the net through nine games played. She has recorded a .931 save percentage and a 1.81 goals against average through 498:09 minutes played.
All-Time Against the Big Red
The Bobcats hold a 13-17-5 overall record against the Raiders. In the 2018-19 season, Colgate took one game, 5-2, and the teams also tied 3-3.
Immediate Impact
The Quinnipiac freshmen class has quickly and positively impacted the team on the ice to start the 2019-20 season. Freshman Kate Reilly is ranked first on the team in points with one goal and four assists for five points. Her five points is ranked second in the conference for defensemen scoring. On the power play, Reilly has scored one goal and two assists, which is ranked fifth in the ECAC. Kenzie Hauswirth tallied two goals against Sacred Heart in a 6-0 win.
Defensive Core
Quinnipiac's defensive core has allowed just 10 goals through seven games for a 1.43 goals against per game average.
Seniors Score
Senior Kenzie Prater is tied for first on the team in scoring with five points on one goal and four assists. She is ranked second in the conference statistics in defensemen scoring. Senior Kati Tabin is right behind Prater with four points of her own.
Leading the Charge
The captains for the Bobcats have been named ahead of the 2019-20 season. Wearing the "C" will be seniors Kenzie Prater and Kati Tabin. The alternate captains will be senior Abbie Ives and junior Olivia Konigson.
Schedule Breakdown
The Bobcats have 34 games slated for the 2019-20 season. Quinnipiac will face six non-conference teams including Providence, Maine, Sacred Heart, Minnesota Duluth, Merrimack and Ohio State. Of the non-conference teams, Minnesota Duluth and Ohio State were ranked in the first poll of the season at #10 and #9, respectively.
Tabin's Summer
Senior defenseman Kati Tabin was named to the BFL National Women's Development Team for Team Canada's Summer Showcase. The camp took place in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park from Aug. 2-11. Eighty-nine of the Canada's top under-18 and development team talents were selected. Tabin was also invited back to camp for Hockey Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival for the second year in a row. The camp took place in Liverpool, N.S., from Sept. 9-15, after the Summer Showcase.
