HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 3/5 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team returns to ECAC Hockey play this weekend as the Bobcats host the Colgate Raiders and No. 20 Cornell Big Red at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena in the first home game since Dec. 7.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac kicked off the second half the season in style, shutting out Colgate 6-0 at Nassau Coliseum to pick up the 15th win of the season and give head coach Rand Pecknold his 500th career win. Six different Bobcats scored goals while Andrew Shortridge and Josh Mayanja combined for a 20-save shutout.
Scouting Colgate
The Raiders' struggles continued in the first game of the second half in the loss to the Bobcats as they were held without a goal for a fifth time this season. Colgate comes into the weekend with a 4-10-2 record and have yet to score more than two goals in any game and have just 19 goals all season. Colgate is led by Bobby McMann who has four goals and four assists for eight points.

Quinnipiac is 23-15-2 in 40 games against Colgate dating back to the first-ever meeting between the two programs in the 2005-06 season. The Bobcats are now 9-1-0 against the Raiders since the start of the 2014-15 season, including a 5-0 win in November and a 6-0 win Saturday at Nassau Coliseum.
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red come into the weekend with a 6-5-0 record through 11 games and a 4-2-0 mark in the league play. Cornell has not played since Dec. 1, a 2-1 victory at Harvard following a tough 3-2 loss at Dartmouth. The Big Red are just 2-3-0 since Nov. 17 when Quinnipiac earned a 4-2 victory at Lynah Rink. Mitch Vanderlaan leads the Big Red with 10 assists and 11 points this season while Cam Donaldson and Morgan Barron lead the way with five goals apiece. Defenseman Yanni Kaldis has been one of the top players with four goals and nine points. Matthew Galajda has seen the bulk of the action between the pipes, going 5-4-0 in nine starts with a 2.59 GAA and .885 save percentage.
All-Time vs. Cornell
Cornell has the advantage in the all-time series between the two teams as Quinnipiac is 17-22-3 dating back to the first meeting in 2000-01. The Bobcats snapped a five-game losing streak to the Big Red with their win back on Nov. 17 in the 4-2 victory. Quinnipiac is looking for its first win against Cornell in Hamden since the 2015-16 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals in which the Bobcats won the series with a 6-3 win on March 13, 2016.
National Polls
Quinnipiac continues to make a splash in the national rankings as the Bobcats climbed for a 10th consecutive week, rising to No. 3 in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll released on Monday. The Bobcats received a season-high 431 points in the poll, as they're ranked No. 3 in that poll for the first time since Oct. 21, 2016. Quinnipiac is still ranked No. 5 in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll.
Milestone Win
Rand Pecknold earned his 500th career victory Saturday night as Quinnipiac defeated the Colgate Raiders, 6-0, making him the third active NCAA Division I Hockey head coach to earn 500 victories, joining Boston College's Jerry York and Mercyhurst's Rick Gotkin. In addition, Pecknold is just the 17th NCAA Division I Hockey head coach to earn 500 wins and the 26th at all levels.
Looking Back
Pecknold reached the 500th win of his career in his 25th season at Quinnipiac, an impressive feat. Below is a list of his milestone victories in his career, including the 141st win of his career which made him Quinnipiac men's ice hockey's all-time wins leader.

Pecknold also became just the second Quinnipiac head coach to earn 500 victories in a Quinnipiac coaching career, joining former men's and women's tennis coach Mike Quitko recorded 526 wins over 23 years with those programs. Former baseball coach Dan "Skip" Gooley recorded his 500th career win as a coach at Quinnipiac, but recorded 101 wins in a brief stint at Hartford before returning to Quinnipiac.

Weekly Awards
For a fifth consecutive week, Quinnipiac earned recognition for ECAC Hockey weekly awards as Peter DiLiberatore was named the league's rookie of the week. DiLiberatore became the fourth different Quinnipiac freshman to earn the top weekly rookie honor.
Century Mark
Senior captain Chase Priskie recorded a milestone of his own Saturday night against Colgate as he scored his 100th career point with a pair of assists against the Raiders. Priskie is just the fourth defenseman in program history to record 100 points and is the 40th overall skater to reach the mark. He is the program's Division I leader in goals scored (34) and ranks second overall to Ed Muzyka '86 who scored 38. Priskie is tied for fourth in program history with 66 assists and is fourth with 100 points.
