TOWSON, Md. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team broke into the win column with a 3-0 sweep of Lafayette (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) in its second match at the Towson Tiger Invitational on Friday afternoon at SECU Arena. The Bobcats fell 3-0 to Eastern Michigan in their first match of the day.

MATCH NOTES
- After falling to Eastern Michigan in its first match, Quinnipiac jumped out on Lafayette early for a 13-4 lead in the first set. Sophomore setter Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) and junior right side hitter Kat Miller (Collegeville, Pa.) each had two service aces during the run.
- Lafayette came back to tie the score 16-16 in the first set with a 7-0 run. The score was then tied at 17, 18 and 19, but the Bobcats never allowed Lafayette to take the lead, and closed out with a 6-0 run for a 25-19 win. Senior middle hitter Elizabeth Kloos (Munster, Ind.) had two kills and a block to account for three of the final four points of the set.
- Quinnipiac jumped out quickly again in the second set for a 9-1 lead. Freshman Michelle Cuervo (Miami, Fla.) had two aces in a 6-0 run on her serve. Lafayette wasn't able to get closer than seven points the rest of the way.
- The third set was close early, but Pansari had three aces in a row to stretch a 12-9 lead to 15-9, and the Leopards were unable to threaten. A Kat Miller kill on match point finished off the third set 25-18.
- Pansari finished the match with six aces, while Cuervo added three as the Bobcats finished with 13 as a team, compared to only three service errors.
- Freshman setter Morgan Sherwin (Coplay, Pa.) had a solid all-around effort with five kills in six attempts, 11 assists and four blocks.
- In the first match, no Bobcats reached double figures in kills as Eastern Michigan took a 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 win. Sophomore outside hitter Natalie Alechko (Old Tappan, N.J.) led the Bobcats with nine kills and 10 digs, falling one kill shy of a double-double.
