
Jessica Maricich Breaks Tackles Record as QU Rugby Pulls Away from AIC 60-22

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Jessica Maricich (Lansing, Ill.) became Quinnipiac's all-time leading tackler on the first play of the match and seniors Tayler Schussler (Westminster, Md.) and Flora Poole (Christchurch, New Zealand) each had three tries in the second half as the Quinnipiac women's rugby team pulled away for a 60-22 road win over American International College on Saturday evening at Abdow Field.

- Senior Jessica Maricich (Lansing, Ill.) came into the match tied with former teammate Hailey Wyatt ('17) with 168 career solo tackles, and broke the record by bringing down an AIC ball-carrier right off the opening kickoff.
- In addition to her record, Maricich also had a first-half try to give the Bobcats a 15-5 lead, and added an assist in the second half on a Flora Poole try.
- Senior Rebecca Haight (Oconomowoc, Wis.) had the first two tries of the match for Quinnipiac, giving the Bobcats leads of 5-0 and 10-5.
- Senior Ilona Maher (Burlington, Vt.) ended the first half by running over 60 yards down the left sideline for a try, giving the Bobcats a 20-10 at the break.
- Maher extended her career record for assists with two on the first two tries of the match from Haight, giving her 42 in her career.
- In addition to her three tries, Flora Poole (Christchurch, New Zealand) moved into third place on the Quinnipiac assist list with her 30th in the second half.
- Senior Tayler Schussler (Westminster, Md.) had three of Quinnipiac's four tries in a 20-0 run to start the second half to break the game open, giving the Bobcats a 40-10 lead.
- Freshman Jordan Cowan (Oak Ridge, N.J.) had a memorable second-half try on a 30-yard run which included a stiff-arm of an AIC defender who was in position to bring her down.
