Bobcats Kick Off 2017 MAAC Tournament in Quarterfinal Round Against #8 Canisius on Friday at 1 PM
HAMDEN, Connecticut – Local television outlet WTNH SportzEdge previewed the Quinnipiac women's basketball team and their upcoming appearance in the 2017 MAAC Tournament starting Friday, March 3 against No. 8 seed Canisius at 1 PM.
In a piece written by John Pierson and produced by Henry Chisholm (click on link above to watch and read), the SportzEdge crew speaks with head coach Tricia Fabbri, senior Morgan Manz (Southbury, Connecticut) and senior forward Sarah Shewan (Russell, Ontario) in the lead-up to postseason play.
Quinnipiac comes into the playoffs as the top-seeded team in the field for the third straight season. Winning the MAAC Regular Season title for the third straight season, Quinnipiac closed the regular season riding a seven-game win streak after dropping two straight games in early February. The Bobcats are just one of 12 teams in the nation to win three straight conference regular season titles while Quinnipiac has dominated MAAC foes in regular season play (54-6, .900) since 2014-15.
The Bobcats now shift their focus to postseason play wherein the team looks to make some noise and advance to a fifth straight conference championship game. Quinnipiac won the MAAC in 2015 and also took home the Northeast Conference title in 2013 before joining the MAAC in 2013-14.
