Samoskevich Named ECAC Women's Ice Hockey Player, NCAA 3rd Star, of the Week

HAMDEN, Connecticut – Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) was named the ECAC Women's Ice Hockey Player of the Week, as well as NCAA 3rd Star of the week, after her four goal performance this weekend against Union and RPI. Samoskevich led the Bobcats to two conference victories last weekend, the only team in the ECAC to do so.
Samoskevich netted a hat trick for Quinnipac on Friday night against RPI, the first time a Bobcat had done so since Meghan Turner on February 3, 2017 against Brown. Her third goal came just over a minute into overtime and was her first game-winning goal of the season. The Bobcats defeated the Dutchwomen, 4-3.
Samoskevich would send home the game-winner the next day against the Engineers of RPI, capping her incredible weekend. Her fourth goal in two days made the game 2-1 in the 3rd period, and that would be the final on Saturday afternoon.
Samoskevich is the third Bobcat this season to garner ECAC honors. Freshman Brooke Bonsteel (Mississauga, Ontario) was named Rookie of the Week on October 17th, and sophomore Abbie Ives (Bedford Hills, New York) was named Goaltender of the Week on October 31st.
The Bobcats return to action on Friday night against the #4/3 Golden Knights of Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.
