LAST GAME (QUINNIPIAC 17, CANISIUS 9)
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman had a career-high seven goals to lead Quinnipiac to a 17-9 home win over Canisius on Saturday. Feldman's first goal made it 3-0 after goals from freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo and senior attack Ryan Keenan before Canisius ever earned possession on the offensive end of the field. The Golden Griffins recovered from the slow start and twice pulled within a single goal, at 3-2 in the first quarter and 5-4 early in the second. However, the Bobcats then put the game away with a 6-0 run, scoring the final five goals of the first half to take a 10-4 lead into the break and then adding the first goal of the second half. Feldman began and ended the 6-0 run, but had some help from his friends along the way. Sophomore midfielder Anthony Carchietta had a leaping goal to make it 7-4 in the second quarter, and sophomore midfielder Ryan Corcoran followed with a pretty feed to the doorstep to junior attack Drew D'Antonio. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Lawson made the score 9-4 and Keenan capped off the half by finishing a hat trick to make the score 10-4. Junior goalkeeper Jack Brust had 12 saves for the Bobcats to get the win in goal, while sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli was 16-of-25 at the X on the day, and led the Bobcats with six ground balls.
ALONE IN FIRST
Quinnipiac stands all alone in first place in the MAAC with two weekends left at a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Marist, Monmouth and Detroit are all tied for second in the loss column with two, meaning that just one win in its final two games would give Quinnipiac the outright regular season title and the right to host the conference tournament. After facing Monmouth, the Bobcats close out at home against Manhattan next weekend.
FELDMAN REPEATS AS MAAC PLAYER OF WEEK
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman enters the Monmouth game with back-to-back MAAC Offensive Player of the Week awards, after setting new career highs against both Detroit and Canisius. On April 10 at Detroit, Feldman had a hand in over half of Quinnipiac's goals, tallying five goals and three assists for a career-high eight points in a 14-4 win. Then on April 16 against Canisius, Feldman erupted for a career-high seven goals in a 17-9 Bobcats victory. Feldman had a hat trick in the first half and then scored the first four Quinnipiac goals after halftime to stymie any Canisius comeback hopes. He finished off his seven-goal game early in the fourth quarter to make the score 14-7, tying the Golden Griffins scoring output at the time all by himself. The award was the seventh for the Bobcats this season from the MAAC, with four different players combining to earn the seven awards:

April 11 Brian Feldman Offensive Player Of Week
April 11 Jack Brust Defensive Player Of Week
April 4 Will Vitelli Offensive Player Of Week

NATIONAL HONORS FOR VITELLI
Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli was named the StringKing National Player of the Week by Inside Lacrosse Magazine on April 6, after having a huge role in Quinnipiac's 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 2. Vitelli was a perfect 19-19 on faceoffs on the day, including 9-9 in the pivotal fourth quarter, as the Bobcats overcame a 5-1 deficit to come back and tie the score with three seconds left in regulation. Vitelli was also named the MAAC Player of the Week after his perfect performance.
WHERE THERE'S A WILL...
Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli's performance at the X has been a strong barometer for Quinnipiac's success or failure this season. In five of Quinnipiac's seven wins, Vitelli has been dominant on faceoffs, including 16 of 25 in last Saturday's win over Canisius. He also won 15 of 22 against Bellarmine, 13 of 20 against NJIT, 16 of 21 against Siena and a perfect 19 of 19 against Marist (see above). The only significant exception was an overtime win at Hartford, when he was below .500, but the Bobcats were able to pull off the win regardless (he also took only three faceoffs in a win at Detroit while nursing an injury). In MAAC games this season, Vitelli has a remarkable 75.0 winning percentage on faceoffs (51-68). Even more remarkable, Vitelli walked on to the team as a freshman last year and had never taken faceoffs before entering college.
KEENAN REACHES CENTURY MARK
Senior attack Ryan Keenan became just the 12th player in school history to record 100 career points with a fourth-quarter assist against Marist on April 10. He now has 78 goals and 30 assists in his four-year career, giving him 108 career points, ranking him alone in 10th place His 78 goals, including 17 so far this season, rank him alone in eighth in Bobcat annals, with a chance to move as high as fourth (88) by season's end. Keenan also has an active streak of 24 straight games with at least one point, dating back to a 2015 opening day game against Brown.

FELDMAN EXPLODES UP GOALS LIST
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman is well ahead of pace to become only the fourth player in school history to record 100 career goals and the first to do it in the last 15 years (see above). Feldman had 29 goals as a freshman last year, and reached the 50-goal plateau with his first goal of the game against Canisius on Saturday, before finishing with a career-high seven, giving him 56 in his career and moving him into Quinnipiac's all-time top 20. He has had 12 goals in the last two games, including five in a win at Detroit on April 10, which tied his career high at the time, and he currently leads the MAAC in scoring in conference games (4.0 per game) and is second overall with 2.7 per game (behind Joseph Radin of Marist).
A COLLECTION OF HAT TRICKS FOR FELDMAN
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman enters the Monmouth game with 56 career goals. He leads Quinnipiac with 27 goals this season, including six hat tricks, with a career-best seven goals in the last outing against Canisius. In his two-year career, Feldman has recorded hat tricks an impressive 11 different times. The Bobcats are 6-0 this season when he has a hat trick and 9-2 overall in his career when he has three goals or more:

FAMILY TIES
Quinnipiac's top two goal-scorers in the last two seasons are sophomore attack Brian Feldman (56) and senior attack Ryan Keenan (44), who have combined for 100 goals in that span. Coincidentally, they aren't the first members of their families to play college lacrosse together. Keenan's father, Derek, and Feldman's father, Daniel, played for one season together on the Ithaca lacrosse team in 1987, when Derek Keenan was a senior and Daniel Feldman was a freshman. It was a connection both players were unaware of until they were teammates at Quinnipiac.
BRUST EARNS THREE MAAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK AWARDS
Junior goalkeeper Jack Brust has been named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week three different times this season, most recently after allowing only four goals in a 14-4 win at Detroit. His second honor came after making 14 saves and allowing only six goals in an 11-6 MAAC-opening win over Siena on March 26. Brust first earned the honor back on March 7, after tallying 12 saves in a close 9-7 win over NJIT. In league contests this season, Brust has a .653 save percentage and is allowing just 6.47 goals a game.
SECOND HALF'S THE CHARM
Junior goalkeeper Jack Brust has had a strong season thus far for the Bobcats, but what has been most impressive is how dominant he has been in the second half of Quinnipiac wins. In the seven wins this season, Brust has allowed only 21 goals after halftime (3.0 per game) while making 49 saves (a .700 save percentage). In a 9-7 win over NJIT on March 5, Brust had eight saves in the second half and allowed only two goals after the game was tied 5-5 at the half. In an 11-10 comeback win over Hartford on March 12, Brust allowed only three goals in the second half while making seven saves as the Bobcats snapped a six-game losing streak in the series with the Hawks. In a March 26 win over Siena, Brust allowed only two goals after halftime while making seven of his 14 saves in Quinnipiac's 11-6 win. In an 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 2, Brust had 10 saves after halftime (including two clutch ones in overtime), while allowing four goals. Against Detroit on April 10, Brust allowed only two goals after halftime, while making seven saves.
METH COMES UP BIG
Senior midfielder Connor Meth has had a pair of game-winning goals in the last month, including a dramatic sudden-death overtime game-winner in an 11-10 win over Hartford on March 12. His golden goal came when he circled from behind the cage to bounce in an unassisted goal for the winning shot. In a March 26 win over Siena in Quinnipiac's MAAC opener, Meth had back-to-back unassisted goals with the score tied 5-5 in the third, the first of which came while the Bobcats were playing a man down. The second of his two goals held up as the game-winner as the Bobcats went on to an 11-6 win to start off MAAC play with a 1-0 record.
CARDIAC CATS
Quinnipiac has had a penchant for scoring buzzer-beating goals early in the 2016 season, none bigger than the two in an 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 10. The Bobcats tied the score with just three seconds left in regulation after forcing a turnover on a Marist clear attempt, with senior attack Ryan Keenan scoring from behind the cage off a pass from senior midfielder Nate Nibbelink. Then, sophomore midfielder Anthony Carchietta provided the game-winner with just one second left in overtime as he also circled from behind the cage to put a shot into the upper corner just before the final horn. Quinnipiac also scored a goal in the last second of the first half against Marquette as junior attack Drew D'Antonio found the net off a feed from sophomore attack James Byrns with just 0.6 seconds on the clock.
INSTANT IMPACT
After being held scoreless in his first collegiate game, freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo has developed into one of the team's top weapons. He had a goal and three assists in a win over Bellarmine on Feb. 27 and had a two-goal, one-assist effort against Fairfield on Tuesday, March 23 to tie him for team-high honors in points. He added a goal and an assist in Quinnipiac's MAAC opener against Siena and now has 17 points on the season (nine goals, eight assists), ranking him fourth on the team.
NEW ROLES PAY OFF FOR CARCHIETTA, D'ANTONIO
Sophomore Anthony Carchietta was in the opening day starting lineup at attack, but moved back to the starting midfield at Fairfield on March 23. He responded to the new role in fine fashion, tallying his first career multi-goal game with two goals and one assist in the 13-7 loss to the Stags. Junior Drew D'Antonio also made his first start with the Bobcats at attack against Fairfield (after transferring from Bryant in the offseason) and had a goal and an assist. The two players had major roles in Quinnipiac's 8-7 road win over Marist on April 10, with Carchietta scoring the game-winner with just one second left in the overtime, while also passing to D'Antonio for a goal which tied the score at 6-6 with just over three minutes left to play in the fourth quarter. After losing the Fairfield game, the Bobcats have won the last four straight with the lineup adjustment.
FROST EARNS MAAC HONORS
Freshman attack Matt Frost was named the MAAC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Feb. 29 after scoring his first three collegiate goals in Quinnipiac's 12-6 road win over Bellarmine. His performance came against a Bellarmine team that fell just 11-6 at No. 1 Notre Dame earlier in the week.
LAWSON PROVIDES A LIFT IN WIN AT HARTFORD
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Lawson saw his first action of the 2016 season on March 12 against Hartford and came up big, providing two second half goals to help the Bobcats rally from a 7-3 halftime deficit to win in overtime. Lawson's second goal tied the score at 9-9 late in the fourth quarter after the Hawks had broken an 8-8 tie. Lawson had two goals as a freshman last season, one of which came against a Stony Brook team that finished the year ranked in the national top 20.
BOBCAT STAT LEADERS
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman has surged into the team lead in points with 30 after tallying 15 in the last two games, and how has 27 goals and three assists). Senior attack Ryan Keenan is right behind with 28 points on 17 goals and 11 assists, including at least one point in every game this season. Freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo (9-8-17) is in third on the team in points, with senior midfielder Connor Meth (10-5-15) right behind. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Vitelli leads in faceoffs won (98 of 174, 56.3 percent) and ground balls with 37, while sophomore long-stick midfielder Adam Bellamy (29), junior goalkeeper Jack Brust (27) and senior defensive midfielder Nate Nibbelink (24) are 2-4 on the team's ground ball list. Brust has a 9.24 goals against average and a .550 save percentage, numbers which improve to a 5.59 goals against average and a .685 save percentage in conference games. All three members of the Bobcats regular close defense are in double figures in caused turnovers, with senior Ryan Lawler (14) followed by sophomore Riley Palmer (13) and senior Chris Kendall (10).
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Monmouth comes into the weekend at 6-5, with the last three losses all coming by a single goal (to Marist, Lafayette and Detroit). Chris Daly is the top goal scorer on the team with 22 goals (to go along with five assists for a team high 27 points). Five other players are in a close battle for the No. 2 place on the team in goals, with Eamon Campbell (13-6-10) currently just in front of Bryce Wasserman (12-7-19) and and Dan Bloodgood (12-2-14). Nick Hreshko has played the majority of minutes in goal and has a stingy 7.97 goals against average and a .539 save percentage. Keegan Teluk is the primary faceoff specialist and is 71-166 so far this year at the X.
LAST YEAR vs. MONMOUTH
Quinnipiac trailed 7-4 early in the third quarter, but then used a 5-0 run to come away with a closely-contested 9-8 win at QU Lacrosse Turf Complex. Current senior Nate Nibbelink (pictured) started the run with a goal, and current sophomore Brian Feldman put the Bobcats ahead to stay with 7:27 left with a man up goal. Graduated senior Michael Sagl added an unassisted goal with 57 seconds left to make it 9-7, before Tyler Deen closed out the scoring for Monmouth with 27 seconds left. Feldman and Sagl each had two goals for the Bobcats, with Sagl also adding two assists. Current junior Jack Brust had 10 saves in goal for Quinnipiac.
PRESEASON INSIDE LACROSSE RECOGNITION
Three seniors on the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team - attack Ryan Keenan, midfielder Connor Meth and defenseman Chris Kendall - were named to the Preseason All-MAAC team by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in December. Keenan and Meth were also named to the Preseason All-MAAC team, which was voted on by the conference coaches.
BOBCATS NAME 2016 CAPTAINS
Five members of the Bobcats will share captain duties this spring, including four seniors and a redshirt junior. Attack Ryan Keenan, midfielder Connor Meth, defenseman Chris Kendall, face-off specialist Connor Devane, and goalkeeper Jack Brust will give Quinnipiac veteran leadership at every position on the field.
BOBCATS PICKED SECOND IN MAAC COACHES POLL
The Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on December 9, 2015. Marist College, last year's MAAC Champions, claimed the top spot in the poll, while Monmouth was picked third. Marist and Quinnipiac met in the conference championship game a year ago, which the Red Foxes won on their home field 16-14.
YOUNG SQUAD IN 2016
The leadership of the Bobcats captains (see above) will be key as Quinnipiac has a lot of young faces on the team this season. A total of 30 of the 42 players on the roster are freshmen (15) and sophomores (15), while two junior transfers in their first seasons at Quinnipiac, adding to the influx of new talent. The youth has Quinnipiac poised to be a consistent contender in the MAAC for the next few seasons.
TOUGH TOP TO BOTTOM
Quinnipiac finished second in the MAAC last season, but just about every conference game it played came down to the wire. The Bobcats played at least one game against each of the other six MAAC teams that was decided by three goals or less, picking up one-goal wins over Detroit (13-12) and Monmouth (9-8) and two-goal wins over Manhattan (8-6) and Canisius (9-7). The Bobcats also fell 9-6 to Siena and dropped a 16-14 decision to Marist in the MAAC title game. This year has proven once again that the conference has excellent parity, as last weekend saw a pair of upsets with Detroit winning at Monmouth and Manhattan defeating Marist in Poughkeepsie.
ROAD, SWEET ROAD
Quinnipiac has proven to be a strong road team this season, tallying a 4-1 record away from QU Lacrosse Complex. The wins include two in overtime, an 11-10 win at Hartford on March 12 and an 8-7 win over Marist on April 2. The Bobcats also picked up a 12-6 win at Bellarmine on Feb. 27, three days after Bellarmine had lost just 11-6 to then-No. 1 ranked Notre Dame, and are coming off a dominant 14-4 road win over Detroit on Sunday.
NEXT UP
Quinnipiac closes out the regular season with a home game against Manhattan on Saturday, which will also be Senior Day for the program's six seniors: Connor Devane, Ryan Keenan, Chris Kendall, Ryan Lawler, Connor Meth and Nate Nibbelink.
