HAMDEN, Connecticut – Over the course of the week beginning on Feb. 1, 2016, Quinnipiac women's basketball will introduce all five members of the program's 2016 freshmen class. Head Coach Tricia Fabbri would like to continue the week of introductions for the Class of 2020 with forward Jaden Ward (Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin).
Jaden Ward
Hometown: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
High School/Club Team: Wisconsin Dells High School / Wisconsin Elite
Height: 6-0
Position: Forward
A two-sport star, Jaden Ward comes to Quinnipiac having starred for Wisconsin Dells High School on both the basketball and volleyball teams throughout her career. With options to play either volleyball or basketball in college, the 6-foot forward ultimately signed on with Coach Fabbri's squad to play for the Bobcats starting in 2016. After just having wrapped up her volleyball career as the South Center Conference Player of the Year, Ward enters her senior season in basketball as a three-time SCC All-Conference performer including First Team honors in her sophomore and junior seasons. Ward has averaged 13.4 points per game in her career, including a 16.5 PPG average in 2014-15 when the Chiefs went 17-6 overall and finished second with an 8-2 record in conference play. Ward just recently scored her 1,000th career point for Wisconsin Dells on Dec. 17, 2015 and she has led her team to a strong 12-3 start to the season with a 5-0 mark in league play. Jaden's older brother Justin played NCAA Div. III basketball at Lakeland College in Plymouth and had a success professional career overseas in Poland and Slovakia in the Euro League.
Coach Fabbri Quote
"We're so excited to be in Wisconsin, we've been recruiting there the last couple of years and we finally got our first one to say yes to be a Bobcat via hockey country. Our hockey success had a lot to do with them knowing Quinnipiac. We saw her over the summer where she played for a great AAU program and her ability down low and her versatility to help sow up a front line is really important for this recruiting class going forward.
Wisconsin Dells High School Head Coach Bob Buss Quote
"Jaden is one of the most athletically gifted girls I have had the pleasure to coach throughout my coaching career. I have enjoyed watching Jaden grow into the leadership role these past three years. She is not only a leader on the court, but off the court as well. She takes her studies very seriously and works just as hard in the classroom as she does on the basketball court. I can honestly say that the reason the Wisconsin Dells Girls Basketball Program has been so successful is because of the all-around player/person Jaden Ward has become."
