
QU Women's Golf Finishes 3rd At Wagner Invitational; Scola, Morales Place In Top 10

LITTLESTOWN, Pennsylvania – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished third out of eight teams at the Wagner Seahawk Invitational at Quails Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. The Bobcats trimmed nine strokes off of their first-day total and were led by a third-place showing by Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island).
Scola rebounded from an 82 on Sunday to shoot a 75 on the second day to finish at 157 (+15) for the tournament. The Bobcat sophomore's Monday total matched tournament medalist Taylar Jamarillo for the best round of the day. Scola was also second in the field in Par 5 Scoring at 4.88 (-1) and was one of three golfers to shoot below-5.0 for the tournament. She was also one of six golfers with 20 or more pars on the 36-hole tournament.
Albany held on to its lead from the first day while Saint Francis finished second. The Bobcats moved up a spot from the first day to finish in the top three, followed by Wagner, Hofstra, Delaware State, Niagara University and St. Francis (N.Y.).
"We moved up a spot and overtook Wagner," head coach John O'Connor said. "All in all, it was a very good day. Nicole [Scola] once-again came through."
Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezual) joined Scola with 21 pars for the tournament as she shot a 162 for the two-day event to finish in ninth place. Morales posted an 84 on Sunday but shed six strokes to shoot a 78 for the second day. Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, New York) continued her solid play, shooting an 84 on Monday to go with an 82 from the first round for a 166 a tie of 17th place.
"Taylor played great again and is here to stay." O'Connor said. "Her improvement is great. Estefania rebounded today to shoot a 78. I'm very pleased with today's result on a beautiful course on a beautiful day."
Quinnipiac is back in action on Apr. 12-13 when it competes in the Brown Invitational at Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, Rhode Island.
