
QU Women's Tennis Cruises to 7-0 Sweep of Manhattan

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team dominated the match with the Manhattan Jaspers to sweep the match, 7-0, Sunday night at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club. Five different Bobcats recorded two individual victories in the match to take their first MAAC victory of the season.
Quinnipiac improves to 4-6 (1-0 MAAC) this season with its second 7-0 sweep of the season while Manhattan drops to 1-4 (0-2 MAAC) with the loss.
Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) picked up her 25th career victory with her two victories over her Jaspers opponents Sunday night while Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, New York) crossed the 25 win mark this season and picked up the 147th win of her career. Ariana Launie (Milton, Massachusetts) moved within two victories of the 100-win mark with a pair of wins.
Raynor and Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, New Jersey) also picked up their 71st doubles victory together as they continue to be a dominant doubles pair at No. 1 doubles.
Horton and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) played extremely well at No. 2 doubles for the Bobcats, winning in dominating fashion as they cruised to an 8-1 victory over Caitlin Bricketto and Shivani Patel. Raynor and Dassa were neck and neck through the first few sets with Gabriella Leon and Alyssa Rosello before pulling away in the later stage of the match to win, 8-4.
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Launie were slotted in at No. 3 doubles and picked up a victory by default as Manhattan only has two doubles teams.
Singles play was just as dominant for the Bobcats as they won all five singles matches and picked up the sixth singles point by default. Horton and Launie each blanked their opponents in straight set victories, as Horton defeated Patel 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles and Launie took down Diana Onichshenko 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles.
Dzulynsky slotted in at No. 1 singles once again and picked up a big 6-1, 6-1 victory over Leon with ease. In No. 2 singles, Raynor settled down after the first set to blank Bricketto in the second set, 6-4, 6-0. Young played a great match at No. 3 singles for the Bobcats, defeating Rosello, 6-2, 6-2.
