HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team received four votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 National Poll to set a new program record, as released on Monday, March 9, 2015. The Bobcats have now received at least one vote in the AP Top 25 Poll for four straight weeks after first cracking the list on Feb. 16.
Reigning National Champion UConn collected the top slot in the poll for the four straight week. Notre Dame captured second and are followed by South Carolina, Maryland and Baylor.
Quinnipiac made history on Monday, defeating the nine-time defending MAAC Champs Marist to claim the first MAAC title in program history. The victory sealed the Bobcats' second conference championship in three years while also completing a perfect record of 23-0 against MAAC opponents in 2014-15.
The MAAC Championship game victory extended the Bobcats' winning streak to 21 games which ranks as the sixth-longest unbeaten streak in the nation. Quinnipiac was one of seven teams in the country to roll through conference play undefeated and own the seventh-highest win-loss percentage (.912) in the nation. The Bobcats cracked the Rating Percentage Index (RPI) Top 25 as the Bobcats are currently ranked No. 23 according to WBBState.com, which is the highest ranking for Quinnipiac this late in the season in program history and the fourth-highest non-nationally ranked team in the country. Quinnipiac finished the 2014-15 season with an undefeated home record (14-0), an impressive feat considering the Bobcats' non-conference strength of schedule is also up to 8th out of 111 teams listed.
