HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team commemorated its 2014-15 MAAC Championship season with a ring ceremony on the evening of Friday, Nov. 6. Several Bobcat alumni as well as family and friends of the program made it to the TD Bank Sports Center for a night of reflection, celebration and pageantry.
The Bobcats wrapped up their 2014-15 season with a single-season program record 31 wins on their way to a 31-4 record, including a 20-0 mark in MAAC play. After rolling through the league slate undefeated in the regular season, Quinnipiac went on to win the 2015 MAAC Championship at the Times Union Center in March. Advancing to their second NCAA Tournament in three seasons, Quinnipiac earned a No. 12 seed (program record) and took on the No. 5 seed Oklahoma Sooners at Maples Pavilion on the campus of Stanford University.
Among the distinguished alumni making the trip to Hamden for the ceremony were Jasmine Martin and Shaina Earle, both members of the Class of 2015 who played a big role in the MAAC Championship season. The four remaining members of the 2015 senior class – Samantha Guastella (Luxembourg), Gillian Abshire (Denmark), Nikoline Ostergaard (Denmark) and Val Driscoll (Denmark) – all are currently playing professional in Europe and could not make the return trip home for the ceremony.
Quinnipiac women's basketball will kick off their 2015-16 season with a road game on Sunday, Nov. 15 at Army at 4 PM. The Bobcats' home opener is slated for Thursday, Nov. 19 at 11 AM against in-state rival Hartford.
