On Thursday, October 22 the Quinnipiac University women's volleyball team will welcome the Fairfield Stags for a 7 p.m. contest from Burt Kahn Court. The team will look to build off strong home performances in their last two matches in Hamden.
WEAR PINK FOR DIG PINK RALLY
Thursday's match will represent the second annual Dig Pink event sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation. The match was established to help raise awareness and donations for breast cancer research, with the team goal to raise $1,000. The foundation was created to help make a positive difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. The donations received go directly to other organizations that "serve breast cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or patient support."

ALL-TIME AGAINST FAIRFIELD
The Bobcats enter the matchup looking for their first all-time victory against the Stags. Quinnipiac is 0-6 against Fairfield with two of those losses coming at Burt Kahn Court. Last season, the Bobcats dropped two matches to the Stags, the first in straight sets at Fairfield and the second in four at Burt Kahn Court. On September 26, the Bobcats fell to the Stags, 3-0, at Alumni Hall. Kat Miller led QU with eight kills and 11 digs while Elizabeth Kloos posted seven kills and five digs.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield comes to Hamden with a 9-9 overall record and 5-4 in MAAC play. The Stags are currently in line for playoff contention, sitting in fifth place in the conference. Fairfield is coming off a 1-1 weekend in New York after sweeping the Manhattan Jaspers before falling to Iona in five sets on Sunday. The Stags also have conference victories over QU, Saint Peter's, Siena and Marist. Fairfield is second in the MAAC in assists (12.71 per set) and kills (13.31 per set) while ranking third in blocks, averaging two a set. Sophomore Skyler Day leads the offense with 232 kills, averaging 3.41 per set.
LAST TIME OUT
Over the weekend the Bobcats were swept in two conference matches in New York. Quinnipiac fell to Iona (19-25, 23-25, 23-25) on Saturday before dropping to Manhattan (16-25, 10-25, 19-25) the following day.
MILLER TIME
Against Manhattan, freshman Kat Miller recorded her sixth double-double of the season. Miller led the Bobcats in assists with 21 and in digs, tallying 13. Earlier in the season the freshman posted four consecutive double-doubles. She leads the team with 279 assists averaging 3.62 per set while also topping the ranks with 222 digs and a 2.88 per set average.
COFFEY ON THE GRIND
For the fifth time in the last six matches, freshman outside hitter Jen Coffey tallied at least 10 digs. In two straight matches she led QU with 13 kills. Against Saint Peter's, Coffey tallied a career high 13 kills on 35 attacks. The freshman hit at a .257 clip while adding one block and two digs. She matched that total against Marist on 23 swings with a .304 hitting percentage. Coffey leads the squad with a 2.67 kills per set average and is 10th in the league with a 2.79 average in conference play.
FORMER STAG
Assistant coach Caitlin Stapleton will take on her former team when the Bobcats host Fairfield on Thursday. Stapleton was a three-time All-MAAC selection at Fairfield, earning two First-Team appearances. In her final collegiate match, she posted a career-high 22 kills, hitting at .562 while adding 13 digs and seven total blocks.
BLOCK PARTY
Sophomore Elizabeth Kloos leads the Bobcats with 73 total blocks. Kloos ranks fourth in the overall MAAC statistics with a 0.95 blocks per set average. She has 12 solo and 61 assisted blocks on the year.
WE WILL, WE WILL BLOCK YOU
Quinnipiac leads the MAAC with a 2.12 blocks per set average. They have 163.5 total blocks which include 38 solo blocks and 177 assisted. Kloos leads QU with 73 blocks while junior Sam Alechko has 52 and Miller adds 51 to the total.
FAMILIAR FOE
With the win over Saint Peter's, the Bobcats secured their first MAAC win in nearly two years. Quinnipiac's last conference victory came on November 3, 2013 in Jersey City when they took down the Peacocks in five sets.
HITTING THEIR STRIDE
The Bobcats played some of their best volleyball of the year in the second set against Saint Peter's. Quinnipiac captured a huge, 25-7 win in the frame. The Bobcats went on 8-0, 6-0 and 5-0 runs in the victory while recording zero errors and a .562 hitting percentage.
COMEBACK KIDS
In the third set against Saint Peter's, the Bobcats came from behind multiple times to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Down 16-9, Quinnipiac went on a 10-2 run to take a one point lead with the help of five Bobcat slams and a Miller service ace. The Peacocks rebounded with six straight points to go up, 24-19 and needed just one more point for the victory. Quinnipiac answered with their best play of the day, the Bobcats shutout the Peacocks while rallying off seven consecutive points for the win.
KLOOS LETS LOOSE
Against Dartmouth, the sophomore tied a season-high 14 kills while leading all players with a .571 attack percentage. Kloos also added two total blocks and a service ace to her resume.
MEET THE MILLER
Freshman Kat Miller had a day to remember on Saturday at the UMass Lowell Invitational last weekend. On her way to being named to the All-Tournament Team, Miller displayed her versatility on the court, posting a combined 64 assists, 22 digs, 15 total blocks and 10 kills through two games. Against San Jose State, the freshman nearly recorded a triple-double, tallying 29 assists, 10 digs and nine blocks. She followed up that performance with another double-double against the host school. In the second game Miller registered 35 assists, 11 digs and six blocks.
ON DECK
The Bobcats are back in action on Sunday, October 25 with their second visit of the season to UMass Lowell. Quinnipiac will take on the River Hawks at 1 p.m. from the Costello Athletic Center. Earlier this season at the UMass Lowell Invitational the Bobcats fell to the River Hawks in five sets (20-25, 25-11, 19-25, 25-17, 5-15).
