HAMDEN, Connecticut – Although the collegiate careers of some former Quinnipiac Bobcats are finished, four members of the Class of 2015 are currently playing professionally overseas. Among the Bobcats' six-player senior class last season: Gillian Abshire, Samantha Guastella, Nikoline Ostergaard and Val Driscoll are all currently playing for professional teams in Europe. Today's release marks the start of a recurring series of overseas updates, beginning with the start of Val Driscoll's professional career in Denmark.
Val Driscoll '15 – Virum Vipers (Danish Women's Professional League)
Listed as the second-tallest player in the Danish Women's Professional League at 6-foot-4, Val Driscoll has made an immediate impact for her new squad Virum Vipers. Through two games in 2015-16, Driscoll has flashed incredible skill averaging 17.5 points (2nd on the team), 12 rebounds (1st) and two blocks (1st) in 32.5 minutes per contest. Driscoll's elite combination of skill and height has led to a team-leading 71.4 field goal percentage (15-21 FG) as well as a 71.4 free throw percentage (5-7 FT) on the season.
Playing alongside her Quinnipiac teammate Nikoline Ostergaard '15, the former Bobcat duo are leading the way for Virum as the Vipers currently stand as one of two remaining undefeated teams in the Dameligaen (Danish Women's Professional League) at 2-0. In her debut game with Virum, Driscoll posted a dominating stat line of 16 points (6-8 FG), 14 rebounds and three blocks in 34 minutes in a 78-63 win over SISU Copenhagen. Driscoll followed that up with 19 points (9-13 FG), 10 rebounds and one block in 31 minutes of a 79-71 win over BK Amager.
The 2014-15 All-MAAC Second Teamer recently caught up with the sports information staff of Quinnipiac Athletics, answering our recurring five question long Q & A section of the women's basketball overseas update.
