CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nationally-ranked No. 7 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey played to a 2-2 tie against Harvard at the Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, Mass. With the tie, Quinnipiac extends its undefeated streak to four games (2-0-2) while moving to 15-3-5 overall and 6-2-3 in ECAC Hockey play. Harvard goes to 5-7-3 overall and 2-6-3 in league action.
With 8:38 remaining in the second period, Harvard capitalized on a turnover by the Bobcats in the Quinnipiac defensive zone. An errant pass glanced off the skate of a Quinnipiac forward and ended up on the stick of Alexander Kerfoot. Kerfoot hit Max Everson with a pass in the face-off circle to the right of Garteig, who then touch-passed the puck to Kyle Criscuolo in the slot. Criscuolo's one-timer beat Garteig to tie the game at 1-1.
Matthew Peca's (Petawawa, Ontario) fifth goal of the season gave Quinnipiac a 2-1 lead with 17:20 left in the 3rd period. Bryce Van Brabant (Morinville, Ontario) tipped the puck to Connor Clifton (Matawan, N.J.) just below the blue line in the Bobcats' end. Clifton spied Peca moving up ice and found his stick with a stretch pass through the neutral zone. Peca skated in on Girard's right before firing a shot off the opposite to give Quinnipiac a one-goal lead.
With 48.7 seconds remaining in regulation, Harvard's Alex Kerfoot cleaned up a rebound off a Kyle Criscuolo shot to tie the game at 2-2. Garteig stopped Criscuolo's shot but a scrum in front of the Bobcats' goal left the puck loose before Kerfoot tipped it past the Bobcats' goalie to even the score with less than a minute to play in regulation.
