
Women's Basketball Falls to Saint Joseph's in Non-Conference Clash, 84-69

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team featured four players with 10 or more points on Sunday afternoon, but it was not enough as the defending Atlantic 10 Champions Saint Joseph's University defeated the Bobcats, 84-69, at the TD Bank Sports Center. With the loss, Quinnipiac falls to 3-4 overall, while the visiting Hawks improve to 6-1 on the season.
Brittany McQuain (Independence,Mo) had 14 points and seven rebounds while Jasmine Martin( Sicklerville,NJ) had 15 points. Maria Napolitano (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 14 points after going 5-6 from the field and 4-5 beyond the arc. Ilze Gotfrida finished with 20 points and nine rebounds while Erin Shields had 19 points, seven assists, and five rebounds for St. Joseph's. The loss snapped Quinnipiac's 17 game win streak at the TD Bank Sports Center.
In the second half St. Joseph's shot 68.6 percent from the field as they were able to erase a 12 point Bobcats lead in two minutes and 34 seconds. St. Joseph's did not look back as they took a lead as big as 17. Gotfrida led the way going 7-11 from the field in the second half. St. Joseph's also shot 4-7 from three point range in the second half and held a 32-12 points in the paint advantage.
The Bobcats will have a quick turnaround as they will play against Hartford on Wednesday night at 7 PM.
